We had the good fortune of connecting with Brigitte Tolson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brigitte, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I used to feel guilty when my time wasn’t being used toward a professional goal, but I’ve grown to realize that truly enjoying your free time allows you to recharge so you can be more effective at achieving your goals. My husband has helped me with this, as he and I are in the same industry but we both love to travel and enjoy events in the city. I make a point to take one day just to myself a week,

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have never had a bad day at work. I’ve known I wanted to be in skin care and health since I was 4 and I was making products and formulas from (much to their dismay) my parents garden. I truly love what I do, and enjoy cultivating a relationship with each of my clients, whether they want to discuss their skin goals or their personal goals, or simply relax for the entire treatment. I always aim to learn more, and stay teachable. Skin health is both an art and a science, and creating Green Chemistry and HARA Medical with cosmetic chemists and doctors has afforded me the honor of creating products that focus on quality ingredients but still manage to look and feel luxurious.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have friends visit from out of town, I take Blvd all the way from Hollywood to the ocean and treat them to brunch at Carbon Beach or Inn of the Seventh Rey, followed by showing them El Matador beach. Afterwards, I love Culver City for good food and a low-key evening, there is an ever expanding art and dining scene that feels very organic. If someone wants something more up beat, I take them to West Hollywood to Catch if they like a trendy scene or Dan Tanas for iconic classic Italian with the ultimate Old Hollywood vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Jesse Mansfield, who I mentioned helps me with my work/leisure balance! His ambition and devotion to furthering his education inspires me, but he also is good about taking time for recharging: we meditate, run, and make a point to set our goals together every week at a different park in Los Angeles while we have lunch,
