Meet Bring Da Smack Podcast | Podcast Host – Community Network

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bring Da Smack Podcast and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bring Da Smack, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Big Al: I was a military brat so we moved constantly but when my father retired I started HS in Decatur Ga. Decatur raised me in believing in myself and showing self-confidence in all endeavors. My parents instilled in me to be myself and my children showed me it’s alright to show my emotions and not keep things bottled up.
Goody Vee: From Eudora, AR. Raised by grandma. She raised me old school style. Respect for elders, school was important and being able to take care of myself.
Jank: As an Augusta, GA native with a traditional upbringing and retired from the USAF, my roots are firmly grounded in Southern hospitality, respect for tradition, and a strong sense of duty and service. Growing up in Augusta, I was surrounded by a rich tapestry of community values, where respect for elders, a strong work ethic, and loyalty to family and country were instilled from an early age.
Being from Augusta shaped my character in profound ways, instilling in me a deep appreciation for the importance of community, the value of hard work, and the significance of honoring one’s commitments. My upbringing taught me the importance of integrity, resilience, and selflessness – qualities that were further reinforced during my tenure in the USAF.
Serving in the Air Force allowed me to further hone these values while also instilling in me a sense of discipline, leadership, and dedication to a cause greater than myself. The experiences and challenges I faced during my military career undoubtedly shaped me into the person I am today, instilling in me a sense of duty, honor, and a commitment to excellence that continues to guide me in my retired life.
Overall, my background and upbringing as an Augusta native with a traditional upbringing and military service have deeply influenced my values, principles, and outlook on life, shaping me into a person who values integrity, service, and the importance of making a positive impact in the world around me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Big Al: The thing that sets me apart is my attitude on life. I don’t believe I have all the answers for every situation. I’ll listen and allow people to vent and then we can work on a plan. What excites me is seeing my 3 children living their life the way they want to, from marriage to stepping out and following their dreams.
Goody Vee: My heart for others, I think. Sometimes it can be too much but helping others in need has always been my thing.
Jank: What sets me apart is my genuine love for people and my sincere desire to see others succeed. I take great joy in supporting and uplifting those around me, whether it’s through offering encouragement, providing guidance, or celebrating their achievements. What I’m most proud of is the positive impact I’ve been able to have on others’ lives, whether it’s helping them overcome challenges, pursue their dreams, or simply brightening their day with a kind word or gesture. What excites me the most is the endless potential for growth and fulfillment that comes from connecting with and empowering others to reach their full potential.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Big Al: One of my favorite spots in Fayetteville is the Salad Box & Some. Great food and customer service. If someone was visiting for a week we would travel to Charlotte for drinks at Aura rooftop, the atmosphere and the view is mind-blowing. If we’re hanging out without any real plans, me and my friends will get a bottle of Remy VSOP, and some cigars and talk, lie, and laugh the night away.
Goody Vee: #1 would be the Civil Rights sites. Then some of the restaurants in Montgomery and Prattville areas. Downtown during some of the festivities is cool too.
