We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittanie Hitchcock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittanie, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make for myself is whether or not I should take a full-time teaching job. I was offered one recently with full benefits and I decided not to take it because I wanted flexibility in my entertainment career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a singer-songwriter, actress, comedian, and also work in production on TV sets.

I call myself ‘IrishSparrow’ as a singer-songwriter and you can find me on Spotify, iTunes, and Deezer. I currently have have two singles out: “Float Away” and “Ethereal”, and I’m working on my latest single now, “Blue Baby”. So stay tuned!

As an actress, I’ve starred in an Indie thriller called, “Venatus” which is streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi. And, I’ve been featured in a Documentary now streaming on Netflix called, “Our Father”. So check ’em out!

As a comedian, I perform all over LA — from the the Haha, to Flappers, to The Comedy Chateau. I also dabble in musical comedy (since I sing and write songs) where I whip out my ukulele and entertain you with silly little jingles about my life.

And last but not least, I work in production on TV shows! I’ve worked shows like America’s Got Talent, The Masked Singer, and So You Think You Can Dance as an Audience Coordinator. And I’ve also worked on scripted series such as an ABC show called “Parental Guidance” and an Amazon Prime series called “BOSCH LEGACY” as a Production Assistant. My goal in Production and TV is to someday make it into the writing room as a Staff Writer (since I write my own scripts) and I’d also love to Produce.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think I’d first take them to old Town Pasadena because that’s where I currently live and just think it’s a cozy little hang. Maybe we’d grab some sushi or ramen out there and then hit some vintage shops and a cute Irish pub I like out in South Pasadena.

After exploring my town, I’d probably expand and take them to other fun spots in LA. I personally really like Melrose. I’d probably show them M Cafe because it has so many Vegan and health food options and then we could maybe watch a show with a killer lineup at the Improv.

Then I’d definitely either take them to Santa Monica beach or Malibu. Malibu has the most delicious seafood joint called “The Reel Inn” and also this cute wine spot called “Rosenthal”. We could enjoy a day at the beach and then hit a seafood spot and wine afterwards 😜

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shoutout to my mom who is always there for me no matter what. She’s been sick for a decade of my adult life (in and out of hospitals), but she’s always supportive of my dreams.

I’d also love to give my stepdad a shoutout because without him I don’t think I’d be going against the grain and pursuing a career in music and entertainment at all. I watched him pursuing his dreams as a drummer and music producer my whole life — so it rubbed off on me and I got the bug too.
