We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Booth, MD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
While the importance of my expertise and overall competence cannot be minimized, I think the most important factor behind the success of my brand is my commitment to treating everyone with respect. That means approaching patient care with openness, empathy, curiosity, and lack of judgement. It means taking time to educate patients about my thought process and recommendations and working to come up with treatment plans that align with their own values and goals. It means being a collaborative partner with other members of the treatment team such as therapists, other physicians, doulas, etc. I believe my practice has grown to the extent that it has because people know they can trust the care their clients, family, and friends will receive will be sensitive, respectful, and collaborative.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a successful private psychiatry practice focused on women’s mental health and reproductive psychiatry. I am most proud of providing sensitive, evidence-based care to women and helping them function their best while they transition through the different phases of their lives. So many women think they have to sacrifice their mental health when they become pregnant and then become mothers, so it is an absolutely incredible experience to help them realize they can have healthy pregnancies/babies AND feel well while doing so! I am always excited to dispel the myths that keep women suffering needlessly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I wish I could say I could recommend the coolest spots in the city, but my inner nerd is going to come out here. I’d take them out to eat to Rao’s or Musso and Frank in Hollywood and then go see a show at the Pantages Theater. I’d take them to brunch at Joan’s on Third or Huckleberry and browse around The Ripped Bodice bookstore. That’s the thing I love about LA – no matter who you are or what interests you have, there is something in this city for everyone!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my career success to several incredible women. Mary Moebius has been my mentor since my first year of medical school and she continues to provide me with business and career wisdom that I value immensely. Katherine Unverferth taught me everything I know about reproductive psychiatry and it is an absolute honor to continue to work with her. She is the best colleague, mentor, and friend I could hope for. I also have enormous gratitude for the late Josephine McNary. I worked for Josephine after I graduated from residency and I would not have been able to launch my own practice if I hadn’t learned everything about the business from her. Her passing was a tremendous loss, both to me personally and to the psychiatric community at large.
