We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Marcotte and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I like to believe that my career has chosen me versus me choosing this path. Everything I’ve done in life, has essentially led me to having a career in the movie/TV industry as a professional stuntwoman. When I was younger, I couldn’t imagine making a living from riding and racing dirt bikes. I’ve always been very athletic and competitive so naturally when I started to race dirt bikes, I’ve always had a ‘never quit’ attitude. I think that is what made me successful in anything I pursued. I’m truly living my dream!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I love about being a stuntwoman, is bringing the action to life on the big screen by utilizing my background in extreme sports and athleticism. Every job is different. From riding a motorcycle to doing fights on-top of a moving truck, whatever it may be, I’m using all my abilities and skills combined to create an exciting action sequence. My forte is motorcycle riding. I started riding dirt bikes at age 11, racing at age 13, and turned professional at age 18. The skills I’ve developed from riding, has unknowingly, prepared me to be a great stuntwoman.
My family had to sacrifice a lot to allow me to reach the level of racing that I did. I stated homeschooling in 8th grade to travel and train. I never fit in at school since most of my school friends didn’t understand my lifestyle. If I did go to a school event, I’d get bullied for being different and often told to ‘give it up’ and do something ‘normal’. Luckily, I had supportive parents and riding friends who understood the struggles, so I never let it bother me. Reflecting on it today, I’ve learned the importance of being true to yourself, don’t give in to the ‘nay sayers’, work hard and always keep learning.
To turn my passion of riding dirt bikes into a career is certainly not the easy path, but the most full-filling.

One way to still stay relevant in the motocross industry, that has given me so much, is a small motocross coaching group my friends and I have created called, MotoFitClub! Myself, Jackie Ives and Louise Forsley offer coaching sessions to riders who want to improve their skills on a bike. We have a big female rider following so we put together group training days for Ladies only to make it more comfortable in such a male dominated sport. BUT, we train anyone no matter age, gender, or skill! We even have a dirt bike to rent out to first time riders who are interested in the sport!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As you can image, Universal Studios Hollywood is my favorite theme park! That’s certainly a go-to for any of my friends who visit me. (Especially during Halloween Horror Nights in October!). I love being outside so hiking to the Hollywood sign with friends is always fun and cruising the streets of Venice to people watch is always entertaining!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could name many people who have helped me along the way, but 3 mentors who have really made an impact are, Jimmy Roberts, Debbie Evans and Jay Lynch. 3 legends in the stunt industry, but more importantly, genuine, humble people who have dedicated their lives to what they love to do. I met them all through the mutual love of motorcycles and love of the sport. They have been my biggest advocate in the stunt industry. Even outside of work, we get together to ride and enjoy what we all love.
