We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittnei & Billy Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brittnei & Billy, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
When people think of success, often they look around at other people and everything else before looking inside themselves.
We agree that it is based upon the individual and has different timelines in which you constantly celebrate the small victories because success is continuous.
For BRAIN, success looks like making a difference in people’s lives and leaving behind our teachings to be passed on for generations. Almost like leaving a piece of ourselves to behind for others to learn from. On this journey, we work together always and think of others constantly fulfilling goals, smiling, complimenting each other, laughing, and enjoying what we’re doing, because it isn’t about making money, but how you make an impact on your community, how other people tell the story of how you what you’ve meant to them, and putting great things into the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Luckily for us, our “work,” doesn’t really feel so much like work when we come together. Being brother and sister we have a blessing that many people don’t have. Many people set out in the world to find a job or a career path that takes them away from their families. Billy and I on the other hand have been able to intertwine our interests to do something great for the people around us.
We have been able to look within ourselves individually to find what we are good at and have a passion for and put that together within the different aspects of Be Resilient Anytime In Nature. Coming together has allowed us to push each other and grow. If there is something I need I know I can count on the counsel of my brother and gain a new perspective. If there is ever something we have trouble with together we can rely on the members of our team which include, our other brother Aaron, our friend Gee, and our other friend Rashad. Not many people get to work with their families. Not many people get to work with their friends and that is such an asset to us. I know for certain overcoming obstacles wouldn’t have been made possible for us if not for them! Being able to lean upon them to utilize their strengths in different situations makes what we do a lot less stressful because we all look at our time together as an opportunity and approach it with love. We don’t get up to clock in and do anything out of routine or feel as if making the community stronger is a mundane Monday- Friday task.
Something I can say we learned was that running a business is not all that people say it’s going to be. However, it’s nothing that we aren’t prepared to work for. That is what being resilient is all about!
To anyone who has just discovered Be Resilient Anytime In Nature, we want them to know that we’ve built a foundation before we started to build a business. Our foundation is anchored in honesty and you can trust that what we say is in our organic and all-natural products is exactly what you will get! It is so important to us that that holds true for our products always because so many are out there that claim to be but contain dyes or other things that don’t come from the Earth. It is also anchored in care, being family, we’ve learned to be there for each other in perfect practice so it is easy for us to be there for the community. We make custom orders for those who may have an allergy, or just really want something that we don’t normally offer. We customize personal training workouts to be fun, challenging, and to suit the needs of your personal goals. We also donate food and supplies directly to the homeless population in our community who are often looked over, passed, and ignored. Then lastly we anchor ourselves in the ideals of growth and having open minds. This makes us great because when we grow, you get more out of us! We want you to consider these things when you think of buying a shea butter, our best-selling Foaming African Black Soap, or when you are booking a personal training session. We want you to keep in mind that this is who we are, and all that we do is important to us, in order to benefit you.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The best time ever in LA would have to include being outside and surrounded by food! Los Angeles is known for the amazing weather so we would have to go on a few hikes like one to see the Hollywood Sign, and more to see the ocean off the shores of Palos Verdes and be sure to head to Green Grotto for snacks and juice a few times.
We would have to experience at least one beach day and relax at Manhattan Beach. It would be so great to show off the great food at Hennesy’s restaurant for lunch while we were in the area.
There can be no trip without a game night spent playing games like, “New Phone Who Dis,” with other friends.
We would have to venture Inglewood to The Court Cafe for Breakfast, then at night go to Long Beach and eat and watch a Laker Game at Bo Beau’s rooftop restaurant.
Two days would be dedicated to just food truck visits and it would be so hard to try not to get full at each stop. We would find the “Belly’s Sliders Truck”, split a burrito at “The Nik Nak Catering” food truck, enjoy carne asada fries from “The Savage Taco Truck”, and hopefully that day “The SNCC Food Truck” has that slammin’ chicken sandwich! Another of my favorites that I would have to share is “The All Flavor no Grease Food Truck,” we would need to try those quesadillas that rock your world! I can’t leave out “The Bleu Truck” or “The Fraiche Signatures Truck” as well because going back home without trying those is just a trip incomplete!
Any time that we had leftover from our food and beach visits would be sightseeing in areas my friend wanted to see. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would like to send all the love and the most heartfelt shoutout to a company that has been supportive of us since the first time we met last June. The team that is responsible for one of the dopest clothing lines designed to bring pride and creativity to the African American community is, The Blackness! We would like to shout you out because without even knowing us you supported our mission and spread the word of what we were doing. We have been able to become a fan of each other and work together likemost companies should. Thank you for the mounds of information you have poored into us and helping our company to grow. Thank you for the time that you take to get to know each of us on a personal level. We also appreciate that you don’t ever look at helping us out as a burden but that you genuinely want to see us win. Thank you for donating your time, and even the clothes off of your back to us and to our donation drive! We have an enormous amount of respect for you, and and love! We wish you all the success!
