We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittney Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittney, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me, I don’t think it was my initial thought to be a business owner. It was kind of a snowball ball effect that happened on my career journey. But when I did get to a point where I was “Okay – I need a team. Lets do it” I figured the best possible way for this company to be successful was enjoy to the process and doing these project with my peers/friends. I knew I wanted something small, familiar and with a people around me that could always get it done.

I don’t know if I ever “knew” I wanted to be a creative professional. As I was growing up I was just genuinely intrigued by the arts (all mediums), creating or just figuring things out. At some point I understood the balance (Directing) created in my life and it was a no brainer to do this thing as a life time career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So, I am a filmmaker. Better known for Directing, Producing and Editing.

I’m mostly proud I am here still doing what I am doing to be honest – Right now I am working on a few scripts that I love and taking into production soon.

After gradating college at Montclair State University for directing I landed a job that same year at Cinematic Music Group. I was in the video department as an editor where I met a lot of influential people that are still in my life. On the side of that I was stepping into the freelance world to work on Music Video’s, Brand content, and Films etc.

At some point I knew I wanted to be a full time freelance Director and then have certain projects go through my smaller company. By then I had a network of peers who were super talented I could connect with per project. At some point people who wanted to work with me started to, which was a great change of speed. It gave me back time I knew I needed to keep pursing my career.

As of now I’ve moved to LA, where I have been directing films, producing music videos and writing.

I’m currently still getting to where I want to be professionally, but I like where I am at right now. It definitely was not a easy journey by any means – there are times the concept of sleep isn’t an option or receive a TON of “No’s”, some projects that never see the light of day or just never happens.

The biggest thing I learned along the way is keeping my “Peace” in tack. My career involves a level of communication an attention to detail for any giving production/project from start to finish also while being able to have your mind flow freely with ideas.

Consistency is really what has got me here. It is all about growth and learning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay, week long trip in city?

We would need to start off at Milk & Honey for a quick full body message

Although I am homebody I still enjoy having a great time outside

For art we would visit CAAM (California African American Museum) & Simchowitz Gallery
A little fashion doesn’t hurt so I would stop at the Bricks N Wood shop since they just opened up a store front
Hikes through the canyon
My little secret beach spot is in Sunset Beach, a little outside the City

Hopefully we would be able to catch my favorite ‘Jasani Jacobs’ DJ’ing somewhere one of those nights or an event coming up from Face2Face Media

Food? Well we would have to go to Little Tokyo for from authentic Ramen, there we would have to head to Melrose to grab an empanada from LALA’s. Not being from here I had to search for some of my own cultural foods (Grenadian) but I have definitely found some spots that are close to like The Jerk Spot or Wah Gwann Kitchen. Happy Ice probably has the best Vanilla Soft serve (Made with Almond Butter)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d dedicate my shout out to the village of people I have around me. There’s not a day I’m not inspired or growing without these folks.
