We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Goldstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooke, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We are a full service Wealth Management Business, focusing on full financial planning, asset management, estate planning, and succession planning. My father began this over 25 years ago originally at PaineWebber then moving on to Oppenheimer & Co. where I joined him 10 years ago. The whole process seemed to happen quite naturally. My father and I had been working together for 6 years at the time. We built strong relationships with our clients but were limited in terms of what we could offer. Some companies only allow their advisors to offer limited products to the investor – usually the companies own product line. We decided to venture out to start our own business to be able to do better for the client and have a wider array of offerings. Now that we are an independent firm, we offer a diverse product choice and solutions based on what suits the client best without limitations from a company dictating what we sell.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
There are always challenges being a business owner. However, the team at Brentwood is able to work through issues as they pop up. The people you work with make all the difference on how the business runs and on the experience we offer to our clients. As a multi-generational family business, we are able to provide our clients with a unique perspective and team approach. It is rewarding to help make an impact in someone’s financial life and to help them live more confidently. We truly get to know each client so we can understand their goals and help them plan a path that works for their financial goals. Whether it is complex financial strategies or just a second opinion on their financial status, we guide them through it all. We take it seriously when we say we are committed to helping our clients pursue the best life possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There is so much to do and see in Los Angeles. You can do a little bit of it all here. I would have us start the day with a hike in Temescal Canyon. Then we could grab lunch at Taverna Tony’s in Malibu. During the visit we could spend some time at the beach walking around Malibu, where I recommend we grab a coffee at Alfred. And, Dan Tana’s is a great spot for dinner where we would order their steak and Caesar salad. We would have to see a show at the Troubadour, which is a legendary club.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My dad has definitely been a big influence on me personally and professionally. Watching him navigate a career in healthcare services and excelling in the investment industry showed me the value of hard work and commitment to always growing and improving. Working along side my dad in financial services allowed me to leverage his experience and accelerate my professional development. I learn from him in our partnership, yet he also learns from me and values what I bring to the practice with my unique experience and perspective. We really complement each other which benefits our clients and employees at the end of the day. And it is a bonus that I get to spend a lot of my time with my father while I work.
