Meet Bryam Herrera: Latino Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryam Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryam, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has taken a great part in my journey. I’m from Colombia, an it’s not really common to think about coming to the US to study and build an artistic career, because of the high prices in American tuitions. But I always knew where I wanted to get and my goal was always coming to LA.
So for me applying to my School and getting an scholarship was a leap of faith, cause that meant leaving my country, family and friends to start a new path.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Latino Actor. I came to Los Angeles to get my Masters degree in Acting for Film. One of my most sacred beliefs is that an artist should always be mastering and perfecting their craft. That’s why I decided to make that “leap of faith”, because I knew the knowledge and experience that I’ve been able to get from my time in here, I couldn’t have get it from no other place.
It’s not been easy to be honest, but that’s why I loved it so much. Every new challenge it’s a new opportunity to learn something new about my self and my art.
As a Colombian and a Latino artist I want to be able to bring a new voice and a different point of view about what it means to be US! Our culture, our traditions and our history It’s something that needs to be shared.
Another of my goals It’s to inspire other young artists to dream big and to work hard to get where they want to be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a movie geek LA it’s the perfect scenario for a little trip in time. I would start with a classic and that’s the Hollywood sign. I remember the first time I saw it and the impact it had on me, it was a reminder of how far I’ve come, and that’s something I would like to shared with my best friend.
Then a drive to the studios. Warner, Universal, Disney and then the Dolby theater. It’s really amazing walking those red carpet steps while reading the best picture winners and wondering which one will be the new one.
Finally a trip to the beach starting with the energetic and vibrant Venice Beach and ending with one of those magical and breathtaking sunsets that only LA can offer at the end of the Santa Monica Pier.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe I couldn’t be here without the help and support from my family and friends back in Colombia. Also I believe that an artist should be surrounded by all kinds of experiences and people. That’s why I’m so thankful for my teachers, classmates and fellow actors that I’ve work in my past, because each one of them had help me to get where I am.
