We had the good fortune of connecting with Caira Mbelu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caira, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Our most important factor behind our success is God. We hold ourselves to a high standard and don’t aim to overcharge or “get one over” on anybody. We pride ourselves on good food, great prices and amazing service.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a family owned BBQ out of Rancho Cucamonga. I started smoking bbq alongside my dad when I was 11. He carried out his lifelong dream opening up this bbq catering company with a huge smoker in the shape of a train. His nickname was “Ptrain” in sports because his coach said he ran as fast as a locomotive! Through working with him, we learned the value of a dollar, hard work, persistence and how to communicate. He passed away prematurely from cancer this last year and it was only right to leave my career and carry on his legacy. There was a small learning curve with towing the train bbq, but sitting in the passenger seat all of those early mornings with him prepared me for almost every situation. The most important factor behind our success is remembering that dream that he had and sharing our love of good food with good people at the best price.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Growing up we used to go to Hermosa Beach, bring an Rv for a week and BBQ. I don’t think there’s anything better in the world than sitting on the beach, Tri Tip sandwich in hand, laughing with friends over a campfire.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to dedicate it to my husband, Zubi. I thought he would think I was nuts when I quit my job to BBQ but he has been nothing short of supportive and motivating the entire way. He encourages me daily to spread our story and has even added a few recipes!
