We had the good fortune of connecting with Cait Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cait, what role has risk played in your life or career?

Life is full of risk and thankfully I’ve been able to embrace that with open arms. I’ve always felt this innate sense that no matter what- from career to personal life- if you dive in everything will work out. Maybe that’s crazy, maybe that’s foolish and it’s certainly sometimes put me in less than ideal situation, but I get a thrill from challenge. What I’ve actually had to learn to do is calculate risk a little better: maybe screen a few people a little more, not just go all in, ALL of the time. But truly, the greatest risk in life? Not risking anything at all.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Nothing is easy about a life in entertainment, but nothing would be harder for me than a 9-5 job. I’ve wanted to be an entertainer since I was a child and I entered show business during my elementary years and never looked back. I always aim – whether in fashion, film or music- to tell a story. That’s my most important goal. It’s not about me- it’s about telling a story in the most profound way. I want to connect with people and to evoke something in them. I want people to heal through art; to learn something about themselves or someone else. People need to feel more- we exist in a “thinking” culture and are so disassociated from our own hearts. I believe art allows people to come back into their own with a higher level of true intelligence.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best part about LA is the balanced mix of nature and city living. I’ve only been living here for a year (but it’s the most home sweet home I’ve ever felt) so I’m still exploring everyday myself! I would start by grabbing a cup of local coffee and going on a morning walk around Beverly Hills to see Rodeo- a quintessential tourist spot but it’s truly fun. After, we could zen out in a yoga class or guided mediation and enjoy a fresh meal at one of the hundreds of healthy restaurants in town. Being in the film industry, I get invited to a lot of screenings so I would want to see one of my friends’ films. On one of the days, I would visit Disneyland, as my boyfriend’s company built a lot of the rides so I would like to show off his handy work. A hike is certainly in order to keep us moving and feeling great, followed by an always exceptional meal at Michelin star Thai restaurant, Jitlada. Malibu is perfect for a beach day or we could head to Dockweiler for an evening beach bon fire. All in all, it would be about variety and show casing the wonderment that LA is.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

The award for best supporting teammates goes to all the females in my life! My mother is a strong woman and I am constantly inspired by her courage and tenacity. She raised me with the mindset to always shoot for the stars. Supporting this idiom, I’ve always aimed extremely high and am lifted up every step of the way by my almost exclusively female reps. I’ve never suffered the common ethical perils in entertainment, being managed by any of these women, and I know that’s a rarity in this business. Their dedication and love goes beyond my career and has helped influence me to be a better person. I appreciate the values they’ve taught me- one of my reps even saved my life- that’s a long story but I am eternally grateful for her!

Ive seen each one of these women grow in their businesses and as people. I’ve been nurtured, while being driven ahead. I’ve been encouraged to be healthy, focused, stable and to always believe in myself. I am grateful for each and everyone of these incredible ladies.
