We had the good fortune of connecting with Cardell “Th3ory” McManus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Th3ory, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As I child I’ve always been creative rather it be music, dance or even building club houses from random materials around the neighborhood. Being a Artist all around has been a natural flow for me and I’m Big on being true to self, so that’s what lead me to pursing a career through the arts.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As any creative my own life stories and journey is what makes me different, I left my city when I was 18 to pursue a career in music traveling up and down the east coast and across the US. Now as an LA based producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and independent artist originally from Springfield, MA. Ive produced for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Elton John, Chris Brown, Wale, 6lack, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Nipsey Hussle, Eric Bellinger, and Blackbear to name a few. Coined as a ‘Swiss army knife’ in the room, Ive been able to collaborate with a variety of creatives across all genres as I wear many different creative hats. The most valuable lesson I’ve learned along the way is never forgot you are and that the art will be the art no matter what, so make sure it’s something you really love and more importantly enjoy through the process while having fun!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m such a studio rat and home body lol but when I do step out I love checking out new restaurants. As a vegetarian some of my favorite spots are H.O.P.E, Nomoo, Cecconis & Gracias Madre!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s been plenty of influences throughout my life but overall nothing would be possible without my foundation through God! If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything, but of course S/O to my guy Lavelle Mitchell for setting up this interview.
