Meet Carjanae | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carjanae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carjanae, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Singing has always been an essential part of my life, and I’m deeply grateful to God for blessing me with this talent. It has always felt natural to me, and pursuing a career in music allows me to share that gift with the world. I believe my voice was given to me for a reason, and using it to inspire, uplift, and connect with others is truly fulfilling. For me, living my best life means doing what I love, creating music. Writing and performing allows me to present my beautiful memories to the world as well as heal, and relive special moments. More importantly, my music provides an escape for listeners, offering them comfort, joy, and a space to heal whenever they need it. Spreading love and positivity through my art is something I’m deeply committed to because you never know how much a song can mean to someone. Honoring my creativity and talent is a responsibility I take seriously, and I will always strive to make the most of the gift I’ve been given.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love exploring and experimenting with different genres, as it allows me to expand my creative horizons and make unique stylistic choices both in my songwriting and live performances. My background in music is diverse I’m trained in classical and jazz, and I can sing in Italian, Spanish, and German. Growing up, I sang in church, which laid the foundation for my passion, and my family introduced me to R&B, which helped shape my sound. This spring, I’m graduating from UC San Diego, and I’m excited to take the next steps in my career. So far, I’ve released two EPs, and my latest single, Expectations, just dropped in March on all music platforms. Beyond recording, I’ve curated my own concerts, performed in musicals, and even won awards for the characters I’ve portrayed on stage. Each experience has contributed to my growth as an artist and performer. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced and continue to work on is patience. It’s not always easy to trust the timing of things, but I’ve learned that everything happens when it’s meant to. As I move forward in my career, I’m excited to grow my fanbase, create more music, and share my artistry with the world. My goal is to inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact through my music.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t live in LA yet, but whenever I visit for performances, I’ve had the opportunity to experience some incredible venues. One that stands out is Hotel Ziggy it had such a vibrant atmosphere and a warm, welcoming energy that made the experience even more special. Driving through the city, cruising down the freeway with music playing, always puts me in a reflective mood. Passing landmarks like Disneyland and soaking in the energy of LA reminds me of my hometown, San Diego just with a little more traffic! There’s something about the rhythm of the city, the movement, and the creative energy that feels both familiar and exciting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to give all glory and thanks to God for blessing me with my talent and guiding me on this journey. My family has been my rock, supporting my dreams wholeheartedly, and I wouldn’t be where I am without them. A special shoutout to my sister, Specs. So. Smooth, who brings my sound to life by producing my beats. Khrissy Briscoe, my PR, has been instrumental in helping me share my story and music with the world. Kris Towne, my engineer at Capricorn Studios, ensures that every track sounds just right, and IK, my videographer at Goat Life Media Productions, captures my vision beautifully. Each of these incredible people has played a vital role in my journey, and I’m beyond grateful for their support, talent, and dedication.
