We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos aka Gnarlos Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlos aka Gnarlos, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
I’d say my most difficult decision was quitting my full time job back in 2018 to pursue my current career as a director/cinematographer. I was working at a warehouse mon-fri about 60hrs a week welding aluminum while trying to pursue my career as a director, it was definitely my most difficult decisions at the time but I wouldn’t have had it any other way now. Taking risk is scary but if you keep working towards your goals, anything is possible,

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s hard to say what really sets me apart from others, their are so many talented people in the same field as me. I guess my work just speaks for it’s self. I just try to focus on my self and being the best creative I can be. I don’t think the journey was ever easy or ever going to be easy, I guess that’s just part of being a creative, you’re never really satisfied but that’s what keeps me going.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I spend most of my free time editing and relaxing at home, you can say I’m a home body, but let’s just say my best friend came into town for a weekend we’d probably go get some Korean bbq because that’s my favorite food then I’d probably take them to a local underground show, art gallery, low rider car meet. My favorite places to go are out of the city, like beaches or a forest, and nature centers pretty much anywhere out of LA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shout out to Myagi, the founder of Deathproof Inc for giving me the opportunity to work and grow with them as an independent artist, I’d also like to give a special shout out to Slay Squad, they been holding me down and good friends of mine since the beginning of this journey, shout out Rake, Juju, Dylan Donavan and the whole Phobia Films crew
