We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Lazzari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlos, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I would think that risk and vulnerability are very similar in some sense. In my career being a drummer and a film composer being vulnerable is a must in order to grow and succeed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m from Porto Alegre, Brazil. Started playing the drums when i was three years old, Music was always in my life and I was pretty sure that I was meant to be a musician since very little. My career started when I was already in middle school, going to gigs around the city. After graduated in high school, I won a scholarship to Berklee College Of Music and studied there for almost two years.
Moved back to Brazil and started my own band. Learned a lot about business, toured around the country and started playing at TV Shows such as: The Voice Brasil, The Voice Kids and others. Working on television was a great experience and was also the first experience as a film composer as well.

After almost three years, I moved to LA to start a new journey.
I’ve been working with dope artists and directors.

I think no matter what you wanna do, just be teachable, nice, be on time, respectable and polite.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is definitely home and one of the best cities in the world.

I would grab a coffee at Clark Street Diner, then go for a walk at the hills near the hollywood sign. Would watch some very cool shows at the Hollywood Bowl and watch the sunset in Venice.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly believe family and community are everything. I am the first musician in my family and always had their support. My mentors in Brazil were Teko Gaspar and Kelbert Steffen (both high school music and art teachers) who incentivized myself to pursue my career in music.
