We had the good fortune of connecting with Carmen Grillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carmen, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My recording studio is successful for a lot of reasons. Treating all people equally and taking care of their musical needs is of the utmost importance. Knowing my clients needs and meeting those needs is essential to my success. Having the proper tools of the trade and the experience I have using those tools has brought me many high end clients. I do not advertise. All of my clients have been referred to me by other clients.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my ability to do many things in my field of work. My father always told me to learn as many things as a could pertaining to my art. At first I was only a guitarist. I then began to sing and write songs. Soon after that I learned how to record my own music. I started all of this at a very early age. Through the years I have gotten better at everything I am able to do and continue to grow in each aspect of my artistry. If I don’t innovate, I will stagnate. That is what keeps me going. Has it been easy, no. It takes hard work, perseverance, dedication, and consistency to achieve. If you have the mindset to accomplish great things in life, you must do the work

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles has beautiful Beaches and museums. That would be my first go to. There are many cultural foods to explore here as well. Perhaps a concert at the Hollywood Bowl would be on the agenda as well.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely my parents who encouraged me to be the best that I can be and follow my dream. Their support was astronomical in my success. I also had great teachers that taught me how to learn what I needed to know and how to use what I was taught. Opportunities only come to you if you are prepared and ready. My guitar, vocal and recording instructors gave me the tools I needed to take advantage of the opportunities that have come my way.
