We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carolina, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Mexico.
I’ve visited the U.S since I was a toddler, but in the third grade we moved to California for a year (my mom wanted me to learn English) and then we moved back to Mexico.
We came back to the U.S my freshman year in high school and have lived here in Cali since.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an esthetician and I specialize in facials and waxing.
I’ve taken care of my skin since I was a little girl thanks to my mom, anytime she was at home she had a natural mask on (honey, banana yoghurt, etc)

I believe that beauty goes beyond our skin and it starts from within.
I like to approach beauty in a more holistic way where we pay attention to our body as a whole.
Using creams/serums and any form of band aid skin care, can only do so much for us if our gut and our stress levels are not balanced.
I get excited sharing this information with my clients, because I know it can change their lives long term.

We all have busy lives and carry stress from our day to day activities.
My favorite part of all treatments is the massage part. We often underestimate the power of touch in a facial but no gadget can replace the magic that comes from our hands.

It’s been challenging finding the clientele that is interested in being more intentional with their skin care routine’s, but I’m learning that is better to build a business that feels authentic and ethical to me, even if it’s at a slower pace.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love nature but I also love a good night out dancing until we can’t no more.

Monday: A good hike in Palos Verdes with a beautiful ocean view.

Tuesday: Riding bikes in Huntington Beach and then head to Zero Zero for some Italian pizza.

Wednesday: Visiting LACMA, take some cute photos and head to Wurstkuche in downtown LA for some authentic hot dogs and beer.

Thursday: For a night out La Descarga in LA for some salsa/reggeton dancing and burlesque show.

Friday: start the night at Pita GR in Brea for some yummy Greek street food and then go bar hopping in downtown Fullerton OC.

Saturday: Head to San Diego and explore downtown.

Sunday: head to Encinitas Farmers Market get some lunch and goodies.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom for exposing me to different economic backgrounds and cultures.
All the strong women in my family that dared to dream and started a business.
The friends along the way that became family and God for all the doors he’s open up for me.
