Meet Carolina Trejos (Journalist/Host) Natalia Trejos-Herrera (Producer/Actress | Co-Founders of Pinkafé

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carolina Trejos (Journalist/Host) Natalia Trejos-Herrera (Producer/Actress) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carolina Trejos (Journalist/Host), what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought behind starting Pinkafé was to share high quality information and content to a multicultural community of entrepreneurial and corporate women who are hungry for knowledge to better their lives and be successful, by sharing the inspiring stories of other women already doing it. We also want to be part of the conversation of the need of more Latino representation in the general market and Hollywood.

What should our readers know about your business?
Pinkafé was an idea that started with my mom’s passion for fashion design and all of us bringing out talents together to create a platform. Having Pinkafé be what it is now, a TV show broadcasted nationally is a great accomplishment to us. But it hasn’t all been fun and games.
Building Pinkafé has been a journey of about 10 years, since 2011 while living in Miami when we had our first event that was called “The Pinkafé Experience” : a pop-up show featuring my mom’s mobile boutique designs, make-up artists, massage therapists, jewelry designers, and local DJs in Miami. But then… life happened.
One sister got married and was living in California, the other sister moved to New York to pursue a major job offer at a magazine and mom had plans to continue her boutique on a smaller scale (no online work for her).
Years later, in 2015 we came back together to create a blog/online magazine, but unfortunately, life also got in the way…
In 2017, we tried it —yet again— by creating an online boutique and a beautiful website. However, destiny had a different path for us, we didn’t push for it although everything was ready to go, we were afraid of marketing and not having a team.
We put a pause on Pinkafé for a couple of years and grew up professionally and personally so much.
Finally, in 2019 we said: “Okay, we are two professional women in Media with extensive backgrounds in production, storytelling, the arts, and a passion for sharing other women’s journeys and stories…. Let’s start a podcast!” Then Pinkafé the Podcast was born and months later we had a TV deal.
Moral of the story is when you have a dream, an idea, a drive to create something amazing it will always stay by your side no matter who or what gets in the way. If it’s something deep in your heart pursue it, it will be worthwhile! Sometimes its the right thing at the wrong time, but now we know that is the right thing at the right time and we are living the dream.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely show them the beauty of having mountains and the ocean near by in the same city.
We would take them for a hike to see the Hollywood sign, later we can go down to see the Hall of fame stars, a walk by Melrose, and go down to The Grove for dinner and drinks.
The next day we do the beach area, we can go from Marina del Rey, make our way to Venice so they can see some color and contrast, take them to Santa Monica for walk in the beach and of course the pier. We can take them to LATV Network studios to see where we film Pinkafé (which is Located in West LA, so they can feel the Hollywood experience) to later finish the day by promenade have dinner and drinks.
We would go to Malibu’s winery experience and have a picnic.
If we have time we take them to Santa Barbara and end up at the movies after dinner.
That should be Sunday where they go home and happy to come back to LA!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to dedicate this shoutout to our mother who was the initial mastermind behind Pinkafé. Also LATV Network for believing in us and making Pinkafé go from a blog, a clothing boutique and Podcast into a National television show.
