We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Klebl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caroline, what do you attribute your success to?
Yoga is a wonderful way to purify the body and mind and awaken to the knowledge of the true self. Success in yoga is attained by practicing yoga asana, meditation and cultivating virtuous actions. Virtuous thoughts, speech and actions lead to a peaceful state of mind and positive outcomes, while viceful thoughts, speech and actions lead to endless pain and suffering. When striving for success it is important to keep the benefit to others as well as yourself in mind and avoid actions which suppress or negatively impact others or the environment. Source of Yoga provides yoga retreats and yoga teacher training programs in Los Angeles as well as in beautiful destinations around the world and regularly donates to tree planting organizations to offset the carbon footprint of students travels. To date Source of Yoga has planted over 8,000 trees.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been teaching yoga for over 20 years and offer yoga teacher training programs, which emphasize the practice of the primary series of ashtanga yoga. My yoga teacher training courses include instruction in meditation, Patanjali’s yoga sutras, Ayurveda, teaching skills and anatomy. I started teaching yoga workshops internationally in 2002 and developed a yoga teacher training program in 2009. Over 500 students have graduated from my yoga teacher training courses, who teach yoga around the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are a number of interesting spiritual places to visit in Los Angeles. The Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades was dedicated by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1950 to visitors from around the world to experience peace of heart and mind. Yogananda was the first Indian yoga guru to settle in America. He introduced millions of people to the practices of Raja and Kriya yoga and published “Autobiography of a Yogi”. The Hindu temple in the Santa Monica Mountains located in the city of Calabasas is also a nice place to visit. They offer tours and spiritual services as well as vegetarian cuisine in their cafe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ashtanga yoga guru, Sri K Pattabhi Jois taught an outstanding method of yoga asana, which emphasis deep breathing and vinyasa, the movements used to enter and exit asana. Ashtanga yoga includes a primary, intermediate and advanced series of yoga postures, which guide the practitioner into hundreds of yoga postures. I’ve been practicing and teaching Ashtanga yoga for over 20 years and trained in Mysore, India with Pattabhi Jois for over 9 years.
