We had the good fortune of connecting with Carrie Mikuls and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carrie, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
One thing we can all rely on is the unpredictability of life. We can make all the plans, have everything perfectly in place and it still may not go our way. For me, the state of my physical, mental or emotional health is key. Is my health being negatively impacted by this business or my lifestyle? Are there red flags that I am ignoring? But often, in all the discomfort I am exactly where I need to be learning the lessons of resiliency and perseverance along the way. Just because things might not be going my way does not mean things are not going in the “right” direction. My perception of “right” is mine alone. The universe may have other plans. In these cases I find it is about putting one foot in front of the other, showing up to the best of my ability and being of service. I like to bring myself back to the reason why I am doing all of this in the first place. What do I envision for myself and my family? What I do is important to me and it matters. Sometimes I need to remind myself of that.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is about empowering folx to find true wellbeing of the mind, body and spirit. I use different modalities to achieve this like sound bath meditations, energy healing, Yoga and more. Those that come to me are usually seeking a deeper connection to themselves and their intuition.
I am really excited about the new membership I am about to launch called Rose + Moon Society. Members will have access to recorded sound bath meditations, intuition exercises, Prenatal Yoga, monthly readings and more.
What sets me apart from other businesses is me! I have so much experience in natural healing, overcoming addiction and cultivating healthy relationships. I use my unique perspective when teaching and guiding others that find themselves on a similar path as I have traveled. Things like physical illness and addiction can feel insurmountable. I am proof that hope and healing are possible and I teach others what I have learned.
My journey in business is still revealing itself to me everyday. I started out as a professional dancer and choreographer and when I became chronically ill everything in my life had to change. I was no longer able to sustain the life I had built for myself. Over time I learned to let go of all expectations of what my life “should” be to allow the emergence of a healthier version of myself. Through the challenges, I learned that I have absolutely been put on this planet to teach! I teach Reiki, Yoga, meditation and ways to strengthen your intuition.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them hiking in Palos Verdes. The cliffs and the ocean views are breathtaking. There are several different hikes and beaches to explore. I would take them to one of my favorite little mom and pop sandwich shops called The Corner Store in San Pedro. I also love this Vegan spot called Pura Vita in Redondo Beach. It’s Italian, 100% vegan and so delicious. I like to leave plenty of time to be spontaneous, explore and have fun.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to acknowledge all the teachers and healers in my life. My teachers have guided me through the lessons I needed to get to where I am today. The healers have taught me how to heal my own mind, body and spirit and that when things have felt hopeless the reminder that everything is temporary in this world.
It has truly taken a village for the success, health and wellbeing I feel in life. I have been given so much love and support by so many people. Without the selfless actions of others, I would not be where I am today. I give that same loving guidance to my students. It is important to share what we have learned from others, passing along those gifts so they may impact other people’s lives like they have impacted ours.
