We had the good fortune of connecting with Catalina Huerta Cardamone and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catalina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being a business owner for about 5 years now, it’s nice to think back as to what made me take the leap to go into business for myself.
Honestly, I wanted to make my own schedule and work hours that allowed me the freedom to be there for my clients and also take time off.
I didn’t realize how hard it was going to be but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Dela Rosa Studio is the name of my salon and I love going to work. It was very tough the first couple of years. I built my salon in 2019 and then in 2020 the pandemic hit!
Not working or being able to provide a service for my clients was tough. I have been working since I was 16 and it was a challenge trying to keep my business going.
I learned in that time, that life is unpredictable and that when you have obstacles you can always try and be prepared for anything.
I’m so grateful to have made it through that tough time and that a lot of my clients stayed with me.
De la Rosa studio is Latina owned and I’m proud to be one of the first in my family to have a thriving business.
Im known for my blow dry & styling techniques as well as long layered haircuts and colors.
Plus I’m pretty fast and efficient.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmm lately I’ve been living a pretty quiet lifestyle and stay in most nights! I know so adventurous. Haha. But I do a lot of self care through moving my body.
I love taking dance classes, spin and weights. Some of my favorite spots are
Sweat cycle. Body by candy fitness, dance classes by Carolina Cerisola and The Miss Márquez
When I do go out I love the movies ! IPic and the Alamo Drafthouse are pretty rad
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my husband Sean Cardamone. He had his own catering business for years and transitioned into owning a production company . His guidance really helped me with my own path in becoming a business owner.
