We had the good fortune of connecting with Cazper J and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cazper, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think that risk taking has played a big role in my life and career as a creative. Always daring to be different opened a lot of doors for me that might not have been opened if I wasn’t willing to take risks. I always try to remember when taking big risks that although there’s a chance I can fail and be set back, there’s also a chance I can succeed and be rewarded in ways I wasn’t even anticipating.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from everyone else is that instead of copying a formula, I created a new style of music. I’ve always dared to be different no matter what people thought and I think my music is one of the many examples of that. It‘s not easy to build a fanbase making music that’s unique, but over the years I’ve solidified my own lane rather than fitting in someone else’s. Since a kid, I’ve always liked upbeat rap and r&b music , so what I did was combined the two along with pieces of EDM and created what I like to call Bounce Rap. Im excited to be where I am today because I can say I did it the way I wanted to do it. I stayed in the studio for long hours almost every day writing and/or making beats and I stayed true to myself. Those two things alone opened so many doors for me. Two things that can never be mistaken are my passion and my intent. Along the way, I’ve learned to look at failure as a lesson rather than a loss. It’s okay to fail when your putting forth your best effort. Life isn’t about always being right. Nobody is perfect, so the only thing we can do is get up everyday and try to decrease the margin of error. I take that piece of advice with me everyday and if it’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I’m always going to make do with what I have. I’m only 24, so a lot of my story is still unwritten but so far it’s been an interesting read and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Newport News, VA is one of them places where you have to make fun with what you have. If I had a bestfriend that was saying for a week, I would probably take them to Tagtime, the Peninsula Skating Rink, Go Karting and the Patrick Henry Mall Arcade, and maybe Manhattan’s or District 41 depending on their age Thursday through the weekend and during the first half of week, I’d do something more observatory like, the mariners museum, the virginia living museum, For food, i’d recommend the melting pot, chic-a-sea, Twisted Crab, Cheddars or if they want something quick, we have the usual McDonalds, Wendys, etc. Newport News doesn’t have much but with the right people you can have a great time filled with a weeks worth of indoor and outdoor activities and decent food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout God first and foremost. None of my blessings would be possible without him. Next, my mom and sisters because they are supportive of anything positive I’m doing in life and everyone needs people like that in their corner. I also want to give a shoutout to my best friend and Outfit Gang partner, Lord MC. We’ve been locked in since high school with this music thing and he’s like a brother to me. I can’t forget my fellow producer and frat brother, GAVINCI, for recommending me for this interview. Lastly, I would like to shoutout all my friends and supporters who genuinely rock with me and connect with my music. Im thankful for them everyday.
