Meet Cervena Fox | Model, tattoo artist, burlesque and fire performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cervena Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cervena, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Through my 20s I definitely believed that you should always push yourself and work as hard as you can, as much as u can to achieve your goals. Which has definitely placed me where I am today. But now that I am starting my 30s I definitely realise that mental health is seriously an important thing in life! I now believe that you should definitely work towards your dreams but allow yourself to have days with friends and family as well as time for yourself to deflate from any stress and any thing that’s upsetting you so you don’t burst. I still to this day find myself being really busy and sometimes don’t get a day off for a couple of weeks but then I definitely make sure to give myself a few days off to have a home-cation.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think the thing that sets me apart from a lot of people in this industry is the fact that I do so many little things that pull into one creative space. For instance when I do tattoo shows I don’t just attend. I perform, sell merch and also tattoo! So I’m technically three people in one! But each thing I do, I do as BEST as I can! I’m most proud of the fact I’ve been in the industry 14 years and I’m Still here working as hard as I can. I’ve seen so many other models fade away after some time but I’m here still standing strong and hope to be for another 15 years! I’m most excited to be taking my burlesque to the next level! I’m going to start competing in competitions all over the world! Are used to compete in pinup pageants about 10 years ago and after winning first place at a Lake Havasu event I decided to then concentrate in my tattoo work. So excited to go back to competitions and now try to win first place in a burlesque competition. It took me a long time to get to where I am in this industry. Consistent hard work and constantly looking for the next best thing. It wasn’t easy but I’m very thankful that even though there were some lows in my career it definitely has put me to where I am now and made my highs just that much higher! Honestly when you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom just push through! I was constantly feeling really down about how I looked and always worried about what people thought but I’ve now definitely come to a time in my life where I’ve now excepted myself for who I am and I’ve learnt to love myself more! My brand is about being confident and inspiring others!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sorry recently just moved to Las Vegas which definitely helps with taking people around as it’s not very hard to do something new there as there’s always something going on! I love big adventures so I’ll definitely take them to red Rock and some of the national parks around Las Vegas! There are some beautiful car rides you can take where you can go 30 minutes out of Las Vegas one way and hit the mountains and then go 30 minutes the other way and hit all the natural hot springs! I would also love to take all my friends to the speakeasies they have in Las Vegas where only certain people know how to find them as they are the secret ones hidden in all the hotels!! One thing about Vegas is they have the best food so we would be sitting here for about 20 minutes with me writing out where I would recommend to go for food as I feel like Las Vegas is known for their great food! Chinatown has some of the best bubble teas and dumplings I’ve ever had in my life!! I’d start there! With me being so into my ballast I would also recommend to go to the burlesque hall of Fame to check out the history about the dancers and also the mob Museum! They have a secret Speakeasy underneath them so I’ve been told 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, the reason why i am here today is because of all my fans. Without them, I wouldn’t thrive to chase my dreams and push to be the person I want to be!
