Meet Cess (Cesspooool) | Music Artist and Streetwear Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Cess (Cesspooool) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cess, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I feel like i didn’t do it on purpose. I feel like I was always ‘arts and crafting’ as a kid and discovered that my heart is made of glue and glitter. I live and advocate a very DIY lifestyle so I just naturally pursued my hobbies. Also when you grow up poor, you just like to save everything and you end up making all these little things with your trash and one thing leads to another…

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a music artist, producer, visual artist, and designer.
I focus on punk- inspired “streetwear” and am directly inspired by the POC and women and femmes around me and my community. My brand goes against fast- fashion and mass production. Many of my pieces are 1 of 1’s meaning I only made one. My pieces feature sayings like “Fuck you Racist Fuck” and “ACAB” which can get you some dirty looks if youre in the right place. One of my customers even said they got in trouble with their teacher wearing one of my tees to class (love it). It excites me to cater to people who are like me.
Alongside designing, I also produce my own music and recently released my first album! Focusing on my Dark pop, Industrial-esque genre, i’ve slowly been finding my sound. I started writing poems before songs and making music just makes me feel so big like a big creator of a whole little world. I feel like my words are spells sometimes waiting to be cast.
One of the biggest things that many artists have as a roadblock, is having the money to fund their business or brand. Saving up is definately easier said than done. My boyfriend helped me create an at-home studio as well as setting up my merch business. Im forever grateful for that. Sometimes I think about how it would be if i wouldve just saved my money when I was younger and bought all the expensive things i needed… wouldve been nice… maybe would be rich by now? hmm…
I want the world to know that no matter how bad or how cringe my projects come out, they all come from my heart and are 100% authentically me. (art can be embarrassing)

Definately shoutout to the love of my life, Juju, for supporting me with all that I do. Also shoutout to all the hotties that support my brand and goals! Im thankful for the people who shop small, support independent workers and artists, and donate to the people in their community! Theyre the real ones.
