Meet Chadwick Bishop: Singer/songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chadwick Bishop and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chadwick, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Simply…I wanted to utilize my natural talents to create a living for myself. I got tired of beating myself up and getting no recognition or appreciation. I developed an exit strategy from my old job and had a few strokes of good luck over the past few years.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is definitely therapeutic for me, if not anybody else. I play trombone and a little bit of piano and guitar. I think what sets me apart is versatility and love for different genres of music. I am comfortable with any good music that moves me. I am most excited that I can inspire other people to take a chance on themselves. I got here by doing just that. It’s not been easy at all, but it’s definitely been worth it! There have been many challenges along the way. Covid 19 caused a major work stoppage as far as live shows. I learned that you can get lucky if you keep putting yourself out there. I have been able to do solo studio sessions and start a weekly talkshow called The Morning Mashop with co-host, Mimi Masher. I want the world to know that I am a simple cat with a passion that I am following. It is not brain surgery and it does not just pertain to music. As long as it’s legal and gonna advance your sprit – Get it in!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You are talking to a homebody who only goes out to perform. If my best friend visited, I would probably take them to the Laugh Factory, The Compound Studio, and Long Beach Most Wanted Studio. That would take up a few days. We would probably GrubHub a different restaurants every night and drive up the coast on their last day. Within that week, I am sure I would connect them with some of my LB fam.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Too many to name just one! Let’s see…how about Steven Ernst. He (and a few others) hired me to be in their band and he gave me cheap place to live when really needed it. He taught me my first chords on guitar. Also, Jimmy Roberts taught me a lot about accountability and professionalism as a working musician. I could go on and on with shoutouts!
