Meet Chaka Stewart | Owner Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chaka Stewart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chaka, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I actually thought it would be a good way to make supplemental income as I was already employed full-time and midway thru my career in sales.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Flipside Event Services apart from others?
We are dedicated to providing tailored, eco-friendly, and reliable event cleaning and waste management services. What sets us apart is our personalized approach—each event is unique, and we ensure our services are customized to meet the specific needs of every client, whether it’s a corporate event, festival, or private gathering. Additionally, we are passionate about sustainability, utilizing recycling, composting, and local farm partnerships to minimize our environmental footprint while ensuring the venue is spotless.
What are you most proud of or excited about?
I’m most proud of our ability to create a team of dedicated and diverse professionals who consistently deliver high-quality results, even in high-pressure situations. The growth of Flipside over the years and our ability to stay adaptable, especially during challenging times, is something I’m deeply excited about. I love that we’ve become a trusted partner in the event industry.
How did you get to where you are today, business-wise? Was it easy?
Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy. It took a lot of hard work, long hours, and learning through trial and error. I started Flipside because I recognized a gap in the market for reliable event cleaning services. I faced plenty of challenges, including competition and operational hurdles, but I overcame them by staying focused, learning from feedback, and adapting my approach as needed. Being able to PIVOT is everything.
What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability. The event industry is dynamic and ever-changing, and being able to pivot quickly to meet new demands or solve problems is essential. I’ve also learned the value of building strong relationships—whether with clients, vendors, or my team—because trust and communication are foundational to long-term success.
What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Flipside Event Services is more than just a cleaning company—we’re a trusted partner committed to making events run smoothly. I want people to know that we genuinely care about delivering exceptional service. We focus on sustainability, customer satisfaction, and reliability, and we are always ready to go the extra mile to exceed expectations. My journey has been about identifying needs in the industry, solving them, and building a company that not only thrives but also makes a positive impact.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my husband Edwin Stewart, He has stood by my side from the 1st night I asked him to get the 8 bags of trash out my car! No matter how crazy it sounded when I 1st shared the idea, he just continued to support me and haul trash per my request. All the late nights and mountains of trash at all hours of the night he has been here threw it all.
