Meet Chanice Ball | Commercial Model, Content Creator & Video Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanice Ball and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanice, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’ve just always wanted more for and from myself. I believed that if others could achieve their dreams, then why couldn’t I? I had a strong desire to live life on my own terms and I knew that in order to do that, I couldn’t be afraid of taking risks.
Risk-taking plays a huge role in both my life and career. I have been granted hundreds of amazing opportunities all because I simply did something outside of the status quo. The most major risk I take consistently is simply just putting myself out there. Working in the entertainment industry, both in front and behind the camera, a lot of opportunities come from word of mouth. In order for people to know, people have to see, which means I need to show up for myself time and time again.
Always easier said than done, so of course I recognize that taking risks can be super scary. Honestly, there are times when I can be my own worst enemy and talk myself out of big opportunities because I wasn’t sure I was ready. However, my mindset is always, if I don’t know how to do it, I will figure it out. It really requires a certain level of fearlessness and a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone to even just see what you’re capable of! We only get one chance at this life, and I didn’t want to waste mine by playing it safe by any means.
I also do not like being told “no” under any circumstances, my response is always “Why not?”. I guess I’ve also always been one to push the rules a little bit. If I can’t do something one way, for sure I am going to find another way to do it because there truly are unlimited ways to get something done! I like to take bold steps, make daring moves, and blaze my own trail. Over time, with every risk I took, I grew stronger, more resilient, and more confident in my abilities, even if they paid off or didn’t.
Because of these risks, my life has grown in ways that I could have never imagined! I feel like I still have so much more to achieve, but I am truly blessed with what I do and have now! I love my little life filled with autonomy and creativity. Life is too short to play it safe Take a chance, follow your heart, and see where it takes you. You might be surprised at just how far you can go.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is really just creative expression, whether that’s in front or behind the camera. I like to think that this duality allows me to better execute what I want to see in front of the camera, which always makes the editing process so much easier! With my background being commercial modeling, it was very easy to transition into social content creation and I think that is what sets me apart; ultimately the vast ways that I can tap into any role I am needed for on a day because I have so much experience and skill in so many areas. I really love the work I do, but it sure took a long time to get here, 8 years in fact, but taking risks and adapting to changes in the industry was essential. Through many challenges including moving to LA months before the global pandemic, I have learned to STAY moldable, be teachable, and be open to all the change life brings, because when that change comes, especially when it’s unexpected, you’ll have to be able to think of ways you can pivot. What my dream started out as when I first moved here, has grown into a new version that includes skills and capabilities I never thought I would tap into.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting LA, I would take them to explore with me as I am still learning LA myself honestly. First we would start the week off strong by sweating it out at a morning pilates class at Solidcore.
Afterward, we’re heading straight to The Taste of Caribbean in Santa Monica for some delicious, authentic Caribbean food. And if it’s Sunday, we’re definitely hitting up their brunch! The perfect after-pilates meal.
Next, we’re hopping in the car with the windows down and the sunroof open, blasting our favorite music as we continue to explore the city. We’ll make a pit stop at the Broad Museum in downtown LA to check out the latest exhibits, take some cute pics for the gram and hopefully snag some free tickets.
Of course, all that exploring is going to work up our appetite again, so we’ll head over to Alta Adams Restaurant for a cute dinner with bomb drinks and amazing music!
After a long day out and about, we’ll probably head back home to rest and relax and either stay in and chill because we’re lowkey homebodies, or catch a live comedy show at The Laugh Factory or any event that may randomly pop-up!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my cousin Reggie who passed away earlier this year. He was always so loving and supportive of me and would call me very often when he saw a commercial of mine on TV or an ad and he would just always tell me how much he was proud of me for following my dreams and expressed his love for me. I never got a chance to thank him for being so loving and supportive of me and my dreams, so this shoutout is dedicated to him.
