We had the good fortune of connecting with Channing Sparks, M.A. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Channing, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The process of healing was the main factor behind publishing my book and drafting my future business plan. I had to make the decision to embrace my past experiences, accept them, and begin the process of moving on stronger. Growing up in a predominantly Caucasian environment, I drew inspiration from my experiences to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices. My new children’s book reflects my journey and amplifies the stories of marginalized groups, making this my first step toward a larger platform for advocacy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my unique perspective and skill set. I’m a dancer, author, social media and content creation professional, as well as, a master in public relations and advertising. I provide a very multifaceted approach to art and communication. However, as a Black female in the United States, challenges have been apparent. I’ve always been a highly aware kid, so seeing a lack of representation in many spaces and communities, I struggled. I was able to overcome this when I was old enough to understand and learn the proper ways to cope and move forward healthily. Along the way, I’ve learned that even my small voice can help someone. I want the world to know that one person can have the strength to empower, amplify diverse voices, and celebrate the power of resilience in a world that isn’t equal.
