We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlene Laurent and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charlene, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think one of the important factors behind my success is believing in myself. The most important rule in life is being your biggest fan. Practicing gratitude and self-love in order to develop as a person and character. I work on myself every day and make sure to hold myself accountable for my work and actions. I’m never afraid to say that I don’t know something. Rather, I find joy in learning from others and getting inspired by other’s people work and compassion. Hard work is one of the leading facts as well. Not giving up and keep going. Even if things seem stagnant in my career; I practice gratitude for the things I have accomplished but also make sure to keep myself inspired for the future. Things just don’t happen because you want them to happen. Things happen because you work for them and trust God. Just to make sure everyone knows the secret to my success; it is all God’s doing. Without God, I wouldn’t be where I am today and it is only because of God that I have come this far. If someone would ask me to give them tips I would just say to be yourself. Embrace who you are and inspire others by being your genuine self. Put hard work in, stay inspired and trust God.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actress, model, and writer. Started with modeling when I was 18 but always knew I wanted more and something deeper. Acting allowed me to portray different characters and get out of my comfort zone, which involved one of my biggest passions; Writing. I am publishing my debut book “Feather Of Love” on February 14th. It is one of the most intimate projects I have ever worked on and my goal is to inspire others. Nothing is easy in life. You have to work for it but I enjoy that part. I think obstacles or any uncomfortable situation make you grow and evolve as a person. Would I rather have everything easy and just handed to me? Yes, but I think if that was the case; I wouldn’t appreciate anything in life. It’s all about the journey. Otherwise, it’s all about hitting goals and not enjoying the present; which is something I am working on. Enjoying the present and knowing the future is my inspiration is my whole passion.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my friend to the Bluffs in the Palisades and we’d have a picnic watching the sunset and talking about life. I love being in nature and seeing God’s creations. The clear blue water shining in the orange-pink tones of the sunset… Breathtaking. We’d also go to Malibu and enjoy the beach. Beverly Hills and Century City have amazing views of the city and many iconic places we could visit. In terms of food, I’d take my friend to Baltaire in Brentwood or Toscana. Two of my favorite underrated restaurants. If we wanted coffee we’d go to Alfred’s and in terms of shopping, we’d probably just browse through Westfield Century City. It’s all about experiences and the atmosphere. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Raymond Laurent is my brother. A fellow artist, model, and actor. He is my biggest supporter and I wouldn’t know where I’d be without him.
