We had the good fortune of connecting with Chase Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chase, what do you attribute your success to?
Having a small circle of friends who support me, challenge me and are honest with me. In running your own business, you will have many friends who question what you’re doing as if you haven’t already thought about the risks and challenges you are going to face. By becoming closer with my close friends (who do actually care about me and my success), as well as cutting out the friends who didn’t behoove me has allowed me to flourish as a creator and business man.

I attribute majority of my success to my friends. Reason being, they pushed me to get started, they have picked me up when I was at my lowest, and they’ve genuinely supported me all the way through it. One thing my friends constantly remind me of is that the “haters” are people who are jealous that you are willing to put yourself out there and truly achieve your dreams. This perspective has taken away my fear of “what will others think” and allowed me to hit the ground running with speed!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My content on Instagram & TikTok is a split between joking about corporate America norms and sharing career advice/tips for business professionals. Getting here was not easy and frankly it’s been a journey. I started off 5 years ago creating content in podcast format where I interviewed other corporate professionals to share their journey to their job and any tips they had for college students looking to get into their respective job/company/industry.

My podcast had very little viewership and subscribers, but I knew the content was important, so I had to reimagine how I’d bring that content to life. After many discussions with friends, it came down to focusing on TikTok & Instagram as a way to reach & grow my audience.

Once I figured out where I was going to put out my content, then I had to research what other creators were doing and how I was going to put my own twist on it. The hardest challenge to overcome was getting used to putting my face out there for the world to see. This was a very cringe-worthy moment that I believe a lot of us feel when it comes to posting on social media. After sitting on 10 drafts for over a week, I woke up one morning and told myself, “F it – I need to post these. What’s the worst that could happen?”

I ended up going viral my first week being on TikTok and since then, I’ve been building out content and tools to share with (current and hopeful) corporate america workers.

What sets me apart from other corporate content creators is that I have experience working for some of the biggest and most loved global brands. Having worked at Starbucks, Nestle, Nordstrom & now Amazon – I’ve learned a lot professionally through my experience at every company which I share through my content. Also, I’ve been a successful “job hopper” and have been able to significantly grow my salary by moving from company to company, which also sets me apart from others.

I would like the world to know that all of my content & consultations are rooted in helping others. The reason I even started podcasting 5 years ago was because I realized colleges don’t teach students key things they should know in corporate America & I wanted others to know the knowledge I was gaining in corporate America. I felt like it was unfair for me to learn through experience, while colleges don’t share this information with students so I took the bull by the horns and started sharing the info!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s a few places we HAVE to hit…

First, we would do breakfast/brunch at Elephante. I love breakfast/brunch, but after going to Elephante, we would hit some local spots for breakfast/coffee every morning. From Pop’s Bagels in Culver City to the Los Felix Cafe, there’s so many gems we really can’t go wrong with this.

If it’s my friends first time to LA – you have to do the touristy things. We would go to the Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Walk of Fame, I’d definitely take them on a driving studio tour to see Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures and Fox Studios. They would have to see the Beverly Hills sign and there’s no way we wouldn’t shop on Rodeo. I’d also plan on us going up to Malibu for a day – it’s way too pretty there and the drive up highway 1 is gorgeous! Last thing, we would have to hit a Laker or Clipper game because I LOVE sports and cannot go without seeing a game at Crypto.com Arena with a friend.

For dinners, the places I’d make sure we hit would be Nobu Malibu, Girl & The Goat in DTLA, Rush Street in Culver City as I’m a huge fan of the movie Think Like a Man, Ospi in Venice, Catch in West Hollywood and Boa in Santa Monica.

For going out, we can’t miss going to The Bungalow, Highlight Room, Mama Shelter or EP&LP (including dinner at EP). I’d also make sure my friend and I go to Laugh Factory one night because I haven’t been there and not laughed all night – it also makes for great stories!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The two people who never get enough credit for my success is my mother & father. My dad started his entrepreneurship journey when I was a child and managed to grow a very successful business while raising 3 children. My mother on the other hand, decided to reinvigorate her career while I was in middle school & went back to nursing school to become a nurse – she is now a director at a children’s hospital in Atlanta.

My parents have proven to me what happens when you’re a genuine person, work hard & have a strong faith. I never heard my parents complain about work or being too busy and they proved to me through their actions that I am capable of succeeding in my own personal journey.

Not only have my parents been amazing role models, but they are my biggest supporters. At first, they were slightly reluctant to me running a business on the side of my stable 9-5 job, but inevitably they have been my biggest fans, biggest supporters especially when I’m feeling down on myself and my best friends to celebrate small and big wins!

I owe all of my success to my parents. They have set me up for success through their own careers, through connecting me with amazing corporate america professionals & coaches, and they continue to push me to think differently to be the best person I can possibly be.
