We had the good fortune of connecting with Chase the Comet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chase the Comet, how do you think about risk?
Hello, there, we are Alex (guitar) and Nika (vocals) from the music band Chase the Comet. Well, actually, we are Chase the Comet. We came to the US from Russia back in 2016 and for us, risk is everything. We have a saying in Russia – “who doesn’t risk, doesn’t drink Champagne”. It means that if you’re not ready to take a risk, you’re not gonna get the best from this life. We learned it the hard way on our path – when we were getting ready to venture to America, we wanted to bring our whole band with us. Cause we had a fantastic line-up and we wanted to try our luck, to see how things would go if only we were in the land where everything happens. But some of our musicians were asking for “guarantees”. Ridiculous, ain’t it?! Nobody EVER gives anyone any guarantees in life, let alone when you travel to the other side of the globe!
We took a risk and, of course, it was extremely difficult in the beginning (and we doubted maaany times if we should have done it at all) but it made us into the people we are today, and looking back we realize how much work and effort we’d out in to be these people.
Growth never happens when one’s comfortable, it’s only getting yourself out of your comfort zone that’ll allow you to keep adapting and evolving.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It doesn’t surprise anyone anymore when you say you make music. Almost everyone does nowadays.
We don’t just make music, we spill our souls out channeling the messages from the Universe. It does come through our own feelings often, yes, but we feel that we have a mission to connect with people, give them hope, and help them when they stall. And we’ve done it for many of our fans along the way.
And though we put all our skills and knowledge and emotion into recording, the best of us is our energy live. Our live shows are like therapy sessions where the audience gets charged with inspiration and willing to keep going while also releasing the negative, living through it with us through our songs.
It feels weird talking about it, you should come and see us live! We’re going on a US and Canada tour in September-October opening up for a bigger band CKY.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We honestly love LA. Just driving around town is already an experience by itself, especially if you’re coming from abroad and played GTA before. We would of course take our guests to different beaches, starting from Manhattan beach and going to Orange County with its picturesque Laguna Beach or Dana Point or the hidden Thousand Steps Beach. Of course, we’d drive up to the hills for the views of the city and to see the famous Griffith Observatory with its under-dome show and evening telescope viewing and the famous Hollywood sign.
We’d walk along the Walk of Fame – we used to live at La Brea/Hollywood so it’d be a nostalgic walk and at night we’d go to the famous Sunset Strip, visiting those rare venues that are still open – the Whisky, the Rainbow, the Roxy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, all the people who have helped us and supported us along the way. Our families, our friends, our FANmily (our most loyal listeners). Books, movies, video games, musicians. So many amazing people and art masterpieces. We would want to specifically point out fantasy books/movies such as Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings (which are solemnly rewatched every year), video games such as the Witcher 3 or Horizon, bands such as A Day to Remember, Foo Fighters, Chunk, No Captain Chunk!, books such as “Conversation with God”, “The teachings of Don Juan”, “Heal your wounds and find your true self”.
I (Nika) have also recently tapped into the art of i-Ching, the ancient Chinese practice and the indigenous culture with the help of a non-profit called Aniwa – they organize a gathering with indigenous elders in Big Bear every year, I would totally recommend going there if you’re looking to reconnect with your soul and find a cure from burn-out, depression and other common diseases of nowadays.
