Meet Chef Lisa Elsis And Chef Amy Scotti Chef Elsis And Chef Scotti | Pastry Chef

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chef Lisa Elsis And Chef Amy Scotti Chef Elsis And Chef Scotti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chef Lisa Elsis and Chef Amy Scotti, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
It takes a great deal of planning and strategizing to create a small business. My business partner , Chef Amy Scotti and I agreed from the very beginning to play to each others strengths, to uphold the highest standards in everything we do in every phase of our business. We each have an incredible work ethic and a deep seated belief in personal integrity. We have committed to working hand in glove, keeping a balanced harmony in our friendship and our business. We both believe in putting our customers first.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Not all cake is created equal. To both Chef Amy and me, food is love and the ability to create is life itself. We are both proud of the fact that we were able and willing to overcome our fears and return to college in our mid-sixties. Not only did we return to school but we both achieved Phi Theta Kapa status for academic excellence. Fueled by that success we immediately opened our small cottage industry business and began selling at various local farmers markets. We have made a home at BellWorks Faramer’s Market in Holmdel NJ. We have learned that determination, time, effort, and the ability to dream have all contributed to our success. We have both learned along the way that the only one that can stop you from achieving your dreams is you. We want everyone to know that you are never to old to grab onto your dream and make a run for it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would start with breakfast at Shut Up and Eat in Toms River New Jersey. Dinner would definitely be at Morningstar Cafe in Tomas River. Between Lunch and Dinner we would go to Jamm Art Galley in Marlboro New Jersey and then we would go to BellWorks Farmers Market to spend some time with the incredible vendors there. We would go see Matthew Pellerito at Downward Doe Farm for the best Jam on the planet, then we would visit the folk at Mutt Market for some treats for my beloved dog, then I would visit Faith Epstein to purchase some of her gorgeous serving pieces and finally stop at Beach Glass Creations for a piece of the jersey shore

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our families deserve a big shoutout, they are the ones who have pushed us both to go to school and to start up our business. They have believed in us even when we doubted ourselves. Our Chef Instructors who told us that we needed to believe in our talent because they certainly did and our Business Coach, Ben Quiñones who is always right there with us.
