Meet Chelsea Patterson: Pregnancy loss advocate | Make-Up Artist | Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Patterson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chelsea, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The concept for my business was born out of tragedy but has since helped me discover a new passion and mission. Unfortunately, in 2019 I suffered a miscarriage at 5 months of pregnancy while carrying a precious baby girl. I chose to call her Noa as soon as her gender was revealed which happened unexpectedly and prematurely during a check-up. During that Doctor’s visit and following the results of some genetic testing, my baby was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal disorder called Turner’s Syndrome where part of or all of an X chromosome is missing in females I was informed that my baby would probably not survive the remaining months of pregnancy. Though we fought together for two long months after that, we eventually lost our battle. Those two months were some of the hardest and most confusing days of my life but also some of the most precious. I took Noa’s transition really hard and I dealt with it privately because I didn’t know anyone personally who had gone through this type of situation. Months after the memorial, I rose up. I spent so much time thinking about the daughter I had hoped to raise and make proud in so many ways and I realized that even though she was no longer here, I still was. I made a decision even through the unbearable emotional pain that had set in, to do something to make my angel baby proud. I refused to continue to sit and be sad so I worked hard to shift my mind to a more positive state.
Before my pregnancy, I began a career as a make-up artist. I had a goal for a while to start an eyelash extension line because it was a product that made women feel beautiful and empowered easily, offers variety and is affordable. I began to remind myself on difficult days after loosing Noa that she had gained her heavenly angel wings and was resting peacefully, and then it came to me. I could launch the eyelash extension line in honor of Noa and call them Noa’s Wings. It made perfect sense to me and I had the means to begin immediately. I poured all of my energy into creating the business and gathered the courage to announce my new business in a post on social media. I was so surprised at the release that I felt personally behind sharing some of my story and mostly surprised by the amount of support and stories of women who were also struggling with life after miscarriage. I was inspired to created a space online for us women to connect, heal and keep it real about our experiences. I launched www.LivingforNoa.com, The Angel Mommy Blog and also the home for Noa’s Wings online eyelash extension store.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since launching Noa’s Wings, I’ve committed to donating a percentage of my monthly sales to helping other angel mommies cover memorial expenses following miscarriage. I’ve also committed to learning more about and supporting the National Turner’s Syndrome Foundation. It is my goal in the near future to establish a non-profit to continue to advocate for pregnancy loss survivors and women living with Turner’s Syndrome. I am excited to continue this work.
Although my business was birthed from one of the most painful seasons of my life, it is essentially ushering me into my purpose and feeding my passions for women and beauty. I think that my business concept is unique because there aren’t many platforms or resources that cater to women with this experience in the way that we’re committed to. LivingforNoa.com isn’t just a safe space for me to heal, its a growing online safe haven for every Angel Mommy. I give Noa a lot of credit for being where I am today and is my constant motivation. Losing her was beyond hard but I can honestly and confidently day that it has made me a much better, more compassionate and much stronger woman and I’m incredibly thankful for that.. Starting my business was not easy especially while battling depression. I had many moments where I honestly just wanted to forget about everything that I had to do and give up but the thought of my angel baby in the back of my mind wouldn’t let me. I’m still facing challenges but knowing that Noa is watching over me and believing that her spirit is with me I continues to motivate me and keeps going. . I’ve learned so much on this journey. One of the most important lessons for me what accepting that that there is no right, wrong, or perfect way to handle the hard stuff in life and we will find peace when we surrender to that truth and just simply do whats best for you. You may find your passion, purpose or discover a way to serve someone else while healing yourself the way that you need to. I’ve also learned not give up in the face of adversity and I believe that hard work really does pay off. We just have to keep going, one step at a time, extending grace along the way. Today I am proud of myself and I am encouraged. It is my hope to help the world to become more aware of the struggles around women surviving pregnancy loss and to extend more compassion, respect and understanding toward women and one another.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is the perfect place to vacay for any Angel Mommy and her bestie after all the place is dubbed “The City of Angels”! Aside from the beautiful beaches and a gorgeous mountainous hikes to indulge in daily, I’d definitely say you can’t do LA without spending a day on the boardwalk of Venice Beach, sight seeing or a shopping spree on Rodeo drive and a tour of all the hot spots in Hollywood and the most famous star-studded walk of fame. I’d also recommend stopping by Madame Tussad’s wax museum to capture selfies with your favorite celebs for social media. Also, if you ask me, you cant visit LA without visiting murals in honor of the cities late great legends like Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant. The art is beautiful and the surrounding energies are special.
Whether you decide to get out on the town, lay up in luxury at the Ritz-Carlton or simply enjoy the beauty of nature, LA has a vibe for everyone.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
