We had the good fortune of connecting with Chianni Lin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chianni, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?

Growing up in Taiwan, my interest in and experience with Oriental healing practices began when I was very young. Taiwan is a society deeply rooted in Asian culture and Chinese Medicine. I received lots of information and stories on all kinds of healing arts growing up from my grandparents, parents, and in school. And my family actively practiced Chinese medicine, meditation, tai chi, qigong, and yoga. I actually received my first acupuncture treatment when I was 4 years old.

Given my upbringing and desire to help people, I pursued becoming a Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine as well a certified yoga teacher–all with the goal of making a significant and sustainable difference in improving health. What I love about Chinese Medicine is that it seeks to understand and treat the underlying condition of the body (vs. just treating symptoms) with the goal of transforming the patient to a higher level of long-term health, stability, and wellness.

The opening of my own health and wellness center has always been a dream. As the founder of the Center for Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine in Santa Monica, I am able to provide a range of health improvement services in a beautiful and nurturing setting.

I hold a Doctorate degree from Emperor’s College, one of the preeminent Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine programs in the US.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

The program called “10+” is a customized program that incorporates acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutrition, yoga and other exercise and movement with active lifestyle coaching over a 10-week period.

Lin is also a certified and highly experienced yoga teacher. Her yoga certifications include pre- and post-natal, and certification in Advanced Relax and Renew restoratives. She’s been featured on the front cover of Yoga Journal and in Complete Home Practice, a DVD series put out by Yoga Journal.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

And so much more…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I had many mentors and supporters that have guided me through my journey. The teachers at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine have been very helpful and motivating. Several teachers at Yoga Works, Exhale, YAS, and Yoga Tree have impacted my yoga practice, which is now incorporated into my integrated Chinese Medicine. My mother and sister who live in Taiwan and Tokyo have been very supportive and encouraged me to keep going despite years of education and training to achieve my dream. Several close friends helped guide me and support me emotionally and financially.

Finally, my patients motivated me to take the risk of opening my own health and wellness center to create a special and unique setting for healing. Without all of this amazing support, I would never have been able to create my own business or to have the impact I am having on my patients’ health. I am blessed and so very appreciative!
