We had the good fortune of connecting with Chico Burns and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chico, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes, I like to say AUTHENTIC IN ALL ENVIRONMENTS and BONDED BY LOYALTY. The first means a lot because no matter where you are , you should always remain authentic and not be afraid to just be yourself. Authenticity requires vulnerability transparency & integrity. And Bonded by loyalty because as you go through this journey of life. Never forget those who helped you along the way. Or remain bonded to those loyal to you. No matter what we face in life. We must always remain the authentic us. So when I started my rep media. It was based on authenticity. Director Brad Furman wanted me to cast guys in CITY OF LIES in his words to bring some authenticity to the film. So I created my rep media to provide local services for Brad Furman as well as Canadian actor Shamier Anderson who used my rep media to cast all the extras in Shamier’s independent short DALIA. Also location management onset. I told all the Canadian actors and actresses who came to Compton that day to film, that i would make sure the location was safe. And all they had to do to interact and get along well with the local Compton men who played extra, was be authentic. No matter what walk of life you come from. We all can find something to relate to. Especially being our authentic self. No one should ever feel like being them isn’t enough. Of course we all strive to be better loving people. But never lose yourself in the process of trying to impress someone. Be yourself and make people love you for you. And even when you feel like it is a lot of people against you or not rooting for you. Trust me someone’s out there rooting. Like myself, I enjoy encouraging others. I love when someone comes to me and say that the genuine things about me is what made them want to learn more from of me. We say bonded by loyalty because people often find a hard time seeing what my rep media provides when they don’t visit the instagram profile. Another reason is because we’re in many areas. We provide casting and location for Brad Furman & Shamier Anderson. There’s the new podcast. We feed the homeless. Clean the local beaches. We are not bonded by money. We are bonded by loyalty. It takes a loyal person to dedicate the time needed into giving back. Some people seek for a fast way to reach the top. Meeting many people, but making zero bonds. I like to think this path of giving back and providing local services came from me understanding that we all bond to something. If it’s loyalty how could i deny it. When I run across loyal people, I bring them in closer. I seek advice at times from those types and praise them for being loyal. We have to bond ourselves to something or someone in life. When your bonded by loyalty, it is a higher level of love to me. Even if the love is Platonic love. We should all just strive to be greater than our suffering.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My Rep Media is a new local media outlet for updates on unsigned Music Artist, interviews with actors, Directors, and other Entrepreneurs. I am the voice for the voiceless. We also serve the inner city and nearby beaches by doing cleanup dates and we will be feeding the homeless soon and passing out school supplies for any kids in need. My aim is to uplift and bring inspiration to the inner city youth to work hard now in school to succeed later in life as adults. Also I’m teaming up with my friend Dsean Tyson non profit ECHO to help some guys having a hard time seeking employment gain work. Any donations can be made to $aniahdawnburns on cash app. In 2016 I started off as a independent recording artist. The biggest release was “Money Dreams “ & “unknowdaname” – Big Tray Deee presents The Certified Project 2019. I called myself Red G’zus at the time. I was in a group with female recording artist CONIYAC formerly from the group Snoop Dog presents Doggy’s Angel’s.
In early 2017 a dear friend named Michael Taylor introduced me to Canadian actor Shamier Anderson who was staring/filming in “CITY OF LIES” By Director Brad Furnam. Shamier took me onset and Brad asked if I wanted to be an extra. Then days later hired me on as casting associate. Where I put 20+ guys in “city of lies” as extras and 1 guy as the role of “lil Cease” ( rapper Biggie smalls Affiliate). It was one of the most exciting and proudest moments of my life. I got all those guys employed.
In 2018 Shamier Anderson & i had became dear friends. Brad Furman , as well, and actor Cory Hardrict too, who was in “city of lies” with me and had remained in very good contact.
Early 2018 Shamier Anderson started filming his own independent short film titled “DALIA” where he hired me on as casting assistant, local management and introduced the hair service i started to provide with my team my rep hair (hairstylist onset).
In 2019 I put my music career on hold. The pandemic was a tough time for a lot of people. I was lucky enough to never have it. But I lost family due to it. I also lost a very dear good friend Canadian actor Jahmil French (not Covid related) It was a tough challenge to overcome. But I allowed my vision to stay on the road ahead.
I was invited to the annual B.l.a.c.k.ball in LA by founders Shamier Anderson and his brother Stephan James. That night i met actress Tiffany Haddish and i was asked by her to make her entrance with her. Of course i did.
It was a humbling moment
I started up my podcast soon after, it’s still new. But I got a great interview with actor Matthew Sauvé uploaded with more to be released soon.
I connected with Chris Davis CEO of Shmoke Apparel and he gave me hands on lessons on how to start making my own custom apparel. And made me apart of Team Shmoke Apparel.
My aim is to bring people together with love from all over the world.
I took up lessons on screenplay writing and started writing up my own short screenplays. I learned that if you apply your talents, or apply your time to your task, it can get done. People give up to fast. If you want something, you have to go out and put in the work to achieve those goals or dreams
