We had the good fortune of connecting with Chloé Levray and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloé, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked for a corporate health and fitness company for five years. I loved it for many reasons and I think that it served its purpose in my life. As I have grown and evolved throughout the years, especially these last couple of years, I realized that being creative and building something from scratch was something that I wanted to explore. I went to school for Sports Medicine so using the left side of my brain has been my thing. However, my parents are musicians and I am half French so I grew up around creativity, different genres of music and different cultures. I realized that I am more of a free spirit and creative than I made myself out to be; that right side of my brain was being used, but it has been screaming to be utilized more. My goal has always been to educate as many people as I can to live the healthiest and most fulfilling life that they can. No matter their age, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background or anything else in between. We all deserve to truly live. I wanted to bring the two halves of myself together, both music and health. So, I took the leap. I resigned from my career, got together with my now business partner to start CONTINUA™ and we went straight to work.

Freedom and living life to its fullest is extremely important to me. Owning my own business is a way for me to make my own schedule, travel when I want to travel, visit family when I want to visit family, essentially take breaks when I want to take breaks. Being an entrepreneur is both the hardest and rewarding thing that I have ever done.

I am a vitality coach and the co-founder of CONTINUA™. As a vitality coach, I help people reach their highest life potential by coaching them in their movements, nutrition, sleep, mindset and recovery practices. Taking control of your health and well being means taking control of your life. I’ve brought this method to CONTINUA™.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
CONTINUA™ merges health, vitality and music through podcasts and movement training experiences.

The synchronicity of these elements creates a unique space for you to understand your body and your health. The combined elements of both music and movement take you on a journey through sound and motion.

Our CONTINUA™ Podcast was designed to encourage a deeper knowledge for health and vitality. We’ve spoken with professionals about their health journey and their expertise across their crafts with the goal to keep you motivated along your health journey.

What about the Business partnership?
My business partner, Aliyah Abdullah, and I are intentional; the time, energy and effort we are putting toward building CONTINUA™  has a purpose.

Naturally, blending music and movement together for health, is what we both embody and we are passionate about educating people about their health and vitality.

As Two women partnering together to build a company, we are both becoming who we wanted to see growing up. We are similar yet very different in ways where we complement each other. Our similarities and differences have allowed us to navigate the entrepreneurial world with more ease than I would have thought…entrepreneurship is a challenge!

We call each other bread and butter because you can’t have one without the other haha! I am the movement and health specialist and the extroverted one and she is the business/marketing mogul that’s a bit more introverted.

Something that we learned early on is that while we share everything with one another, it’s okay for us to stay in our lanes to get more accomplished. We trust one another and we respect each other and we constantly communicate through the highs and lows. I think those are reasons why we’re progressing so quickly.

But, it hasn’t always been peachy! We’ve had disagreements along the way however we promised ourselves and each other that we would be honest and never let anger or resentment build up.

I’ve learned being in a business partnership is like being in a relationship! Honesty, communication, vulnerability, trust, taking your ego out of decisions and conversations to think about the big picture, these make up the groundwork for a solid partnership.

How are you managing your time with your personal life?
I’m balancing quite a few things. It’s difficult to not only get everything done, business wise, but at the same time , balance my personal business and personal life. I have a full book of clients, a fiancé (shoutout to you boo!) and a puppy. I have hit a wall a couple of times throughout this process and every time I do, I reevaluate. I have set boundaries for myself such as not working past 7pm on weekdays and not working on Sundays.

Taking the rest, getting the sleep, spending time with loved ones, and making sure to eat and move throughout the day is important.

Those are de-stress mechanisms when I become overwhelmed (I love to go on a walk/hike/run either in my neighborhood or somewhere in nature). I mean how hypocritical would I be if I wasn’t practicing what I preach, this is exactly what my coaching business and CONTINUA™ are all about!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooo I love this question! Let me preface this by saying that I don’t drink nor do I go out to bars very much so I usually leave it to my friends to plan that part! So, I would take them to do the following: Hikes: Topanga Canyon, Malibu, Griffith hike up the “lookout peak”, Eaton Canyon. Restaurants: The Inn of the 7th Ray, Sage Vegan Bistro, Kitchen Mouse, True Food Kitchen, Plant Food and Wine, The Butchers Daughter, Erewhon. Activities: Go Karting at Racer’s Edge, “Bird”ing around Venice/checking out the art, Spoken Word at Da Poetry Lounge, Pasadena or Melrose Flea Market, watching the amazing talent on 3rd Street, Descanso Gardens, The Getty or MOCA (there is always a cool exhibit), Road trip to Ojai for the day to go bike riding and visit Bart’s Books, Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach. Going out: Black.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Firstly, I dedicate this shoutout to my fiancé, Everett Dailey. You are the most supportive, understanding, encouraging, loving man and I am forever grateful for you. Love you boo! Shoutout to my family and friends for constantly rooting me on, wherever my path takes me. I love you all so much! Shoutout to my amazing business partner and friend, Aliyah Abdullah. You are the bread to my butta, wouldn’t and couldn’t do this without you!
