Meet Chris Ball | Founder & CEO, Ball Family Farms

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Ball and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, what do you attribute your success to?
Authenticity, family, and passion for the plant. That’s it. That’s the formula.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The impact we’ve made on cannabis culture — that’s what sets us apart, and the fact that we proved we can win if we’re given the right tools.
No, it wasn’t easy. I put in 10,000 hours learning how to grow. I was relentless in figuring it out. I wasn’t afraid to fail. And I stayed committed to that transition — from a street hustler to a CEO.
Lessons?
Don’t overspend. Save your money.
Always prep for the downswing.
Never take your eye off the business.
Hire great humans.
Learn every aspect of your operation.
But also — understand what you don’t know, and align with people you trust who do.
What I want the world to know:
I’m a guy who deserves to be here.
Started from the ground, survived the consequences.
I’m educated in the space. I know what I’m doing.
We’ve got a great brand, great products — period.
Ball Family Farms is the example of what this industry should look like.
We’ve done it all: from growing in all three mediums, to sales, to distribution, to decoding the regs.
There’s nothing we haven’t touched or tried. We’re the truth when it comes to cannabis.
Not just Black cannabis, not just social equity cannabis — just cannabis, full stop.
We’re 100% how this industry should be represented.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop: Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles on Gower — no question.
Then we’re hitting the Hollywood sign, from Beachwood Canyon, so we can get up close.
After that, I’m taking them down Crenshaw, straight to the Slauson Swap Meet.
We’d probably wrap the night with dinner at Fixins Soul Kitchen at LA Live and Staples Center (yeah, I still call it Staples).
And from there, cruise down Hollywood and Sunset Blvd — catch the lights, catch the vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Family, first and foremost. I wouldn’t be here without them.
Julie Minuskin. Leonard Velasquez. Ebony Andersen.
And my Ball Family Farms team — they roll with me every day.
