We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Farmer Music and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Playing music while growing up came very naturally. It made sense for me to have my own business so I can book my own events as band leader, as well as offer my instrumental and vocal musical services to other groups and entertainment contractors,
What should our readers know about your business?
Being a musician and running your own musical services and performance coaching business is a constant learning process. I’m excited about taking my music performance coaching arm on-line in the form of a monthly membership. We’ll be adding great songs every month, while overcoming fears and insecurities all performers have.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s so much to see and do here in Southern California – The mountains, deserts, ocean. I love to take drives up and down our beautiful coast, but trips inland to the Palm Springs area, High Desert and San Berdo mountains are just as satisfying.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents first, who encouraged my musical growth and entrepreneurship every step of the way.
To Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean, who plucked me out of playing the LA club and restaurant circuit and showed me how to be a support musician to headliner acts, while playing the bulk of our shows in the corporate world.
To John Stamos, that punk kid who kept showing up at our gigs saying “I can play drums!!! I can play drums!!” (Yeah sure, run along home, please). “But I’m also an actor and would like you guys to be my band on my TV shows.” Ah, well that’s different..
And to The Beach Boys, for putting up with me for 12 years out there on the big bad road.
