We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Fulcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
“The greater the risk, the greater the reward” is a quote I truly believe has had a deep impact on my career and mindset in general. My whole entire life has been based off risks. I took a HUGE risk getting into content creation in general when everyone I’ve ever known has had comfortable jobs or a comfortable pattern to their life. I gave up so much for this career. Some including; dropping out of high school and joining night school (to join a band as a photographer I was touring with), or moving to Los Angeles when I was 21 and sleeping in my car/couch hopping just to sustain an income and establish myself. I think the biggest barrier for me to break was comfortability and I’ve always felt like if I was comfortable, then I wasn’t pushing myself hard enough (which can be ironic to some people). Now that I’ve been doing this more than 10 years, I am starting to slowly learn what the right amount of comfortability that I should let in. About 5 years ago, I started developing panic attacks which I believe were from breaking that “comfortability” barrier and pushing myself too hard. Having these panic attacks almost completely broke me and ruined my career. It made me not want to do anything – I barely wanted to leave the house for almost two years. I had to sit down and re-strategize my whole entire perspective on my business and what I believed was “risk taking”. I do believe that risk taking is one of the most important aspects of my career and many other careers, and limiting comfortability can bring someone to the next level – but you DO need mental clarity and you need to be VERY careful. We are all human beings at the end of the day and knowing when to take a step back is just as important as knowing when to take the next step forward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I am a travel/hospitality, commercial and editorial content creator. For the majority of my life I have worked in the music industry as a photographer and creative director. My focus in the music scene was building sets and photographing artists for mainly single and album cover work. I have dipped my feet into many genres of photography over my career though; including boudoir, food and beverage, weddings, and editorial work. Now, over the last few years, my primary focus has been in the travel and hospitality industry. I work with resorts/hotels, tourism boards, and various travel companies around the world with my partner, Savannah. We had to take a break in 2020 with the pandemic unfortunately, which I went to focus on my other focuses of photography during that time. Now with the hospitality industry opening up more this year, we are back in action and helping companies advertise the welcoming back of tourism. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one – there are so many people that I have crossed paths with that deserve a shoutout and has played a role (big and small) in my life and career. The real MVP’s are my parents and girlfriend though. I have been very fortunate to have such a supporting partner and family in my life who have never doubted my decision making in my career.
