We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Pudlo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic or creative career because I don’t know any other way. My whole life has always been a movie playing in my head of how I want things to be, how I see the world and how my art should be created. I see images in my head like a music video or film clips. I then need to get that out whether it’s through writing, acting, photography or just coming out in a quirky personality trait. I never liked the idea of a nine to five job that you stay at for thirty plus years and then retire. I have never subscribed to the conventional norms that society expects. I think it helps being gay because you do a lot more soul searching and questioning which helps you be more free creatively.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I used to call myself an actor but now I call myself an artist. The range of what I do is all over the spectrum. My biggest passion is doing celebrity impressions and creating original characters in an SNL like way. I also do landscape photography and I am a huge nature nut and I make hiking tutorial videos showcasing all the travels I do. I would say the road getting to where I am has not been easy but not so hard either. I trust the universe and let things fall into place in addition to going after what I want. I’ve learned to only put your greatest efforts into what you are truly passionate about regardless if it doesn’t fit into what people expect of you. I want the world to see my talents through the art of laughter and appreciating nature.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is literally what I am passionate about. After arriving in LA, and getting to see the Hollywood sights, we would have an amazing dinner and spend the evening drinking cocktails and watching an amazing film. The morning would start off with coffee from GO GET EM TIGER and next would be an epic hike in the Angeles National Forest. The next few days would be a road trip up the central coast hitting Ojai, Santa Barbara, Solvang, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Cambria, Big Sur and Carmel among many other towns. Along this journey would be boutique shopping, epic food, nature walks and evening wine drinking by fire pits telling ghost stories. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to all of my friends and family. There isn’t a specific person that has helped me immensely along the way but all of them as a whole. Everyone has helped inform me of who I am today. Even the friendships that have faded or people I have had a falling out with have all helped me grow into who I am. I am very grateful for the endless support of a loving family in addition to amazing friends. I’m a lucky man.
