We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Alan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christian, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Believe You Are The Best is the multi-media platform that I have been running for a few years now, and it all began with a desire to produce short films and web-series that stayed true to their integrity. I didn’t have major studio experience at the time, nor did I have the most A-list actors or equipment at my disposal. But what I did have was a holistic take on coming-of-age topics such as teen pregnancy or suicide prevention, and that’s already half the battle. So for me, it was all about working efficiently with what I had and making that space where I didn’t see any. Almost 4 years later, we have a reliable team that’s gotten some acclaim and won awards so we might be onto something, but you can decide for yourself by checking out our Instagram page @byatb3.0.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In no industry, especially entertainment, can you get anywhere without being bold and without taking matters into your own hands. I think so much of my success and attention so far can be attributed to the AUM series I started producing back in 2020. Through it, we’ve touched on everything, from coerced abortion, to racism and sexism in Hollywood, to rhetoric used against those in the foster system. It was never an assignment for school and I didn’t always have the crew or resources that we have now to make our final season, “An Unplanned Milestone”. But what I did have was confidence and tenacity. The 2020 lockdowns became an opportunity for us to make the first few seasons shot remotely, ie, less sets and equipment required. I might have flinched and gotten overwhelmed by the doubt that AUM’s seasons would deliver on time. But I never gave up, I adapted. And I think that’s a very easy thing to detect in someone’s character. At just 22 years old now, I’ve adapted AUM into a streaming series and have produced episodes for courtroom television, and none of that could have happened if I sold myself short or didn’t give myself grace to think outside of the box.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So Andrey Goulter, one of BYATB’s most prolific creatives, will actually be visiting us for the first time in LA soon, so this kind of question is good for me to be thinking about. I would say the best first impression is starting West then making a gradual trip down PCH all the way to San Diego. Must-do’s in West LA are going to the Getty, because you can see so much of LA with just the view of the Getty. After that, visiting some iconic spaces like the Santa Monica Pier, maybe Universal Studios or a studio tour at Warner Bros, and before anyone leaves LA, making a pit stop at UCLA. It could just be the alum in me, but I don’t think anyone should visit LA without seeing the school in person. I think a lot of people will be surprised to find just how lively the campus is, especially when students “party hardy” on the weekend. After that, just kicking back and enjoying some of the perks to being a Californian, such as our really prominent Mexican-American cuisine.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am foremost really proud of the BYATB Talent that have leveled up within BYATB internally. Names that come to mind are our “Stimuli(e)” leading man, Alejandro Martin, an actor-now-turned-director. Or Andrey Goulter, one of our longest running associates who has managed to win awards, act, and even direct our new series ‘An Unplanned Milestone” all the way from Australia. Seeing such prolific creatives get their start on BYATB or step more and more into leadership roles is truly all I could have hoped for on this platform.
