Hi Christina, what are you inspired by?
A Lust for Life embodies an unwavering desire to embrace a rich and fulfilling existence, a sentiment that resonates uniquely with each individual. Reflecting on the past 20 years, I find profound gratitude for not only surviving but thriving amidst the challenges posed by Stage IV thyroid cancer and MS. This journey has instilled in me a deep appreciation for health, a facet of life intricately defined by each living being. My heartfelt thanks extend to the supportive community that shares a common vision, amplifying the significance of this pursuit of a vibrant life.

In parallel with my personal journey, I’ve built a business that goes beyond providing a mere product. Witnessing how people incorporated my products into their daily practices inspired a transformation in my approach. The business evolved into a source of inspiration driven by the individuals it serves—a platform to support others on their healing journeys.

In 2008 I created a Kale smoothie product for myself after healing from two life-threatening diseases. It was my own personal lifestyle change. I had no idea I would spend a lifetime inspiring and making this recipe for many people. While they inspire my journey I am so humbled by the way I have been able to continue to inspire others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Specializing in the art of crafting artisan smoothies and juices, my flagship product line showcases a delightful blend of Kale citrus smoothies celebrated for their exquisite taste and superior nutrition. The key ingredient in my creations is the love and dedication I pour into my craft. Beyond delighting the taste buds of our valued customers, my commitment extends to planetary health. I find inspiration for my work through the care and well-being of animals, which gives me the mental focus to keep pursuing my passion within a very tough industry.

For over 15 years, my mission-focused business, “drinkme,” has thrived. The most vital lesson learned during this journey is the importance of keeping everything basic. While competitors draw inspiration from syndicate data and industry trends, I remain steadfastly focused on meeting the needs of our consumers.

The genesis of my business began with inventing a product that aligned with my healthy lifestyle- a green smoothie I made and carried everywhere. Soon, others noticed and requested their own, leading to the rapid growth of an international business with products in various retailers in Canada and the USA.

Reaching the top was an initial triumph, but sustaining that position presented challenges. Finding financing for continued support, staying on trend, and building a sustainable and trustworthy supply chain became pivotal. Adhering to the basics, innovating solely for our consumers, fostering win-win relationships, and returning to nature are the fundamental principles that guide my journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since my products grace the shelves of Whole Foods Markets in Southern California, my first stop is always the stores themselves, a moment to showcase the fruits of my labor. Following that, a scenic drive down the Pacific Coast Highway to South Bay becomes a cherished ritual and where I live. Then indulge in the simple pleasures – be it a coffee, a poke bowl, or one of my refreshing smoothies – before heading to the beach. The Pacific Ocean serves as both a serene backdrop and a source of inspiration. It is something out of a dream.

A stroll up the strand, perhaps a walk up the pier, allows my visitors to soak in the coastal ambiance. We cannot forget to go a little further south to the hills of Palos Verdes. I know where all the wild peacocks frequent. It is a must-see for any visitor. As the day transitions to night, maybe some street tacos, complemented by the vibrant energy of live music bars. These experiences, a blend of business accomplishments and coastal enjoyment, reflect the essence of my journey, some of the best parts of Los Angeles, and the joy that comes from blending the love for my craft with the beauty of Southern California.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this to the individuals who guided me in discovering my vision, contributing significantly to my flourishing in a healing journey that spans many years. Their steadfast support for both my products and brand has imbued my life with purpose and vitality. This appreciation extends not only to individuals but also to the businesses that surround me, including my resilient supply chain and the retailers who champion my products. The path of entrepreneurship has been challenging, marked by a temporary suspension of operations at one point. Yet, with immense support, I not only revived but successfully rebuilt the business for a second time. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support that envelops me.
