Meet Christoher John | CJC Photography – Book Cover Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christoher John and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christoher, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Growing up, I didn’t take that many risks. I was more careful. However, I would say the biggest risk I took was in 2016 when I moved to Florida from Massachusetts. My goal was to pursue photography full time and that risk paid off and I haven’t looked back on that decision since.
I do think the saying, “no risk, no reward” is true in that sense.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Chris (CJC Photography) and I specialize in the licensing of book cover imagery. I sold my first book cover image to Sophie Monroe in 2013 for her rocker romance “Afflicted.” My background is in email marketing and I had juggled my day job along with photography until 2018 when I became a full-time photographer.
Earlier this year I licensed my one thousandth photo which is what I’m most proud of to date. A special thank you to all the authors, models, graphic designers, and friends and family who helped support me to reach this milestone.
I strive to constantly be growing and learning new techniques and honing my craft so that I can be the best I can be for myself and my clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had friends in town visiting St. Pete, FL I would absolutely take them to the beach! There are a bunch of great options from St. Pete Beach to Fort Desoto. I also am a big fan of going to parks and exploring nature, Weedon Island Preserve is one of my favorites.
In regards to going out central avenue has amazing places to eat and breweries as well. It has a fun local vibe to it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh wow, there are so many people that have helped me get where I currently am and where I hope to continue to go. My parents and family for starters. They have always supported me in my photography journey from the very beginning and have told me they are proud of me and that just means the world.
