Meet Christopher Cuenza | Event Host/MC & DJ | Sales Team Leader | Performance Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Cuenza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Success in this industry isn’t just about numbers, it’s about what people experience and how deeply I can connect with everyone in the room. My background in dance plays a huge part in how I MC. I read the energy and use movement to connect when needed, and help create a flow that keeps people present and involved. Social dancing in various genres has taught me how to adapt in real time, whether it’s bringing hype to the dance floor or guiding a crowd through movemt.
Working with youth earlier in my career, working with group through dance gave me a toolkits for crowd management and attention. A lot of times the same techniques that work in a classroom or a dance studio are exactly what’s needed to refocus a room or gently shift the energy. I’m proud of my ability to sense when the vibe needs to change, whether it’s turning up the hype, creating a heartfelt pause, or making sure important information lands with the audience.
For me, the most important factor behind my success is this ability to read the room, adapt, and guide people through the full range of emotions an event can offer. It’s about being present, responsive, and making sure every guest feels seen and included—no matter what the moment calls for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In every field I’m connected to, whether it’s business, a sales call, hosting an event, or being on stage, I approach it as an artist, with an artist mindset. My years dancing I used to think this is what I do but it’s not what I do but it’s who I am, it’s in my core. It shapes how I move through the world and how I connect with people. That artist’s mindset means I value authenticity, spontaneity, commitment and raw emotion.
Believing in yourself isn’t a one time thing. It’s a daily practice, it doesn’t get easier with experience, it just changes. With more life experience comes more wisdom, but sometimes it’s also harder to stay confident. What I’ve learned is that the most important thing is to keep showing up, keep showing up for others, and most importantly, for yourself. That’s what I want people to know about my journey and my brand: I’m here, I’m present, and I’ll always show up with heart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Born and raised in LA, I’m always excited to show off the city’s diversity, especially the Filipino spots. As a Filipino American I love being able to see something that celebrates my culture. I’d definitely start by taking my best friend to some of my favorite Filipino restaurants and bakeries, I mean it felt like home so how can I not. If there’s a concert or dance event happening, we’re there.
But honestly, it’s hard to pick just a few places because LA is always changing and there’s always something new to discover. There are a ton of places so when friends or family come into town it gives me a reason to check out some spots I have had on my list.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people deserve a shout-out for helping me get to where I am today. First and always, I have to give a massive thank you to my parents for their undying support. Wanting to pursue dance as a career for several years wasn’t the most conventional path, but they supported me every step of the way. Whether I was struggling or “making it” they were always there. Their love and faith have meant the world.
A huge shout-out to Culture Shock Los Angeles, they truly opened the doors for me to explore multiple performance arts and helped me find my voice as both an artist and a person. The experiences and skills I gained there have shaped who I am today.
Contra-Tiempo, taught me so much about what it means to be part of a community and how we work together, not just for ourselves, but for each other. It really showed me powerful way to use my art and creativity. Those lessons continue to influence how I show up as a host, MC, DJ and community member
And finally, to Academy of DJs, this is where I fully stepped into the DJ world. The program didn’t just help me build the confidence to leave bedroom DJing behind, it pushed me to challenge myself and connect with an amazing community that supports and inspires me every day. Each person there pushes me creatively.
