We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Leong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christopher, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision I made to contribute to my success, will always be my family. I not only wanted to improve my craft in photography for myself, but succeed in the process; continue to be better at it in order to provide for my Children and Wife.
Eventually to inspire and to pass down my knowledge of photography, social media, and networking to my children.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My story is a humble one. I work a 9 to 5 job in the technology industry, the nightlife photography, small business, weddings/ special events on the weekends.
What I am most proud of my progress and success through the years, is I have built professional relationships with business owners and the skills I was able to fine tune (especially during shelter in place).
As well as, being able to incorporate my interests in pop-culture, comcis, anime and cyberpunk into my creative process.
The challenges I faced were that, the industry mixed with personal life is not easy. I say this because, you will have to make some sacrifices in life. The most precious thing to sacrifice is time. Time takes away from family, money and sometimes, mental health.
Overcoming that, there needs to be a balance betweeen your personal life and work/ the passion you have in life.
Finding that balance will ensure that you stay positive in your work, continued success and life at home.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a relative question that I was just thinking about the other day/ for awhile now.
If there was anyone that deserved to be shown a “best time ever”, it would be my Wife. I had been planning to take just take a road trip down the California Coast with her; places I’ve personally been for photography or wanting to explore.
As for food/ drinks, that would be up to her as she’s the “Foodie” in this marriage.
California Cost to Vist:
Cypress Tree Tunnel (Inverness, CA)
Battery Spencer (Sausalito, CA)
Lovers Lane (San Francisco, CA)
Bixby Bridge (Big Sur/Monterey County)
Solvang (Solvang, CA)
Ubran Light (Los Angeles, CA)
Santa Monica Pier (Santa Monica, CA)
Mushroom Beach House (San Diego, CA)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to Shoutout my, Wife (Charlemagne Leong), her and my children have been my driving factors for anything I do.
Also for 10+ years, Steezc (Chris Ho) has been a friend + mentor since I took photography from just being a hobby, Nightlife events with Dfined.com and moving into the commercial side and helping local businesses thrive.
