We had the good fortune of connecting with Christopher Yungchriisbeats and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christopher, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risks are a major factor in how you become successful. Sometimes playing it too safe will never get you where you want to be. For instance, in the past, I would definitely overthink things and have thoughts about “well what if this thing doesn’t work out.” About two years ago, I had a great job that most people would honestly love to have, great benefits, great pay, 401K, the works. But, I knew deep down it was not what I saw myself doing long term. The whole “working a normal 9-5 job” just did not fulfill me. This is in no way, shape or form to bad mouth people who do, but it just wasn’t for me. So I quit and decided to follow my dreams. Within the year of 2021, I was able to obtain my business permit for my clothing line, release a music album, and join various acting agencies which allowed me to do Voiceover acting, acting in a movie and 21 TV shows. This past year was worth the risk because I love where I currently am. Although the old me wouldn’t have thought about taking a risk due to the fear of failure, I now believe that taking a risk is better than being left with the thought of “what if”.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is symbolic. With my music, I try to make music that “paints a picture.” And those who are interested will hear that soon enough as I am looking forward to finishing my second instrumental album called “1990,” which is expected to release in March of this year. I also hope to make music for upcoming shows, movies and commercials. My love for music has opened my eyes to new passions and interests such as acting. I have recently become Sag-Aftra so I look forward to taking on bigger acting roles in more shows, movies, and commercials.

When it comes to my clothing line, the art will be addressing stigmas about mental health so I am really excited about finally doing a full relaunch in the near future as I will be going LLC. And, because I love giving back to my community so much, I will be giving back by giving away food and clothing items to those in need on a quarterly basis.

Getting to where I am currently was not easy in any way, it was mentally, emotionally and at times spiritually draining, but through trail and error, the lessons I learned along the way were to be patient while going after what I want, keeping faith in god, and believing in myself and sticking to my plan even if others do not understand it. I am really proud of how far I have come in such a short amount of time, because I took chances and followed my passion, even when it looked bleak, I stayed the course and now it’s paying off. As cliche as this may sound, I just want the world to know that despite what you have been through, where you come from, or the cards you were dealt, you can always make your dream come true. As someone who came up in poverty, around drugs and gangs, I did some things that negatively affected my community, but by getting closer to god, I have since had a chance to give back and help those who feel like they don’t have an outlet to see that there is another way. Musiciis_clothing & MusiciisEnt will be the brands to help the hood, because I do not forget where I come from.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well being that Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, I would definitely take my best friend on studio tours, especially since I myself have worked on these lots, lol. Of course I would take my best-friend to Iconic La Landmarks, like The Hollywood walk of fame, Hollywood sign, Randy’s Donuts, The Observatory, even Watts Towers. We Have to visit the beaches, a lounge or club. I love theme parks, so Six Flags Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry farm are a must! I would take my best-friend to the inner city where I’m from, South Central La , to get some authentic street food, and get the opportunity to be introduced to other cultures. Something I feel that is forgotten about Los Angeles is how close we are to the mountains, so I would take my best-friend to Big Bear Lake for amazing night time views. Los Angeles is such a diverse city, so hopefully this gives them a glimpse of what Los Angeles is all about.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I give thanks to God for giving me chance after chance and never giving up on me. My family and friends who are really there when I need help or simply there when I just need to talk to someone. All the past experiences with other musicians both good and bad, as it showed me what to do and what not to do when it comes to the business side of music. All the actors I have met during filming, who gave me pointers on how to join S.A.G Aftra, which agencies to look into, the DO’s and DONT’S while on set, and just making work fun, and also let me not forget those who have purchased hoodies, shirts, and joggers while I was going through the first phases of my clothing brand, for that I say thank you.
