We had the good fortune of connecting with christos tsantilis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi christos, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
In my younger years, I focused on completing as many tasks in a day as possible. Rest time only came on Sundays. After many years of living that lifestyle, I learned that without proper rest, productivity was lower than I would hope for. Today, I pace myself. I manage my time wisely to make sure my focus is utilized properly throughout the day. I’m a big fan of small breaks throughout the day. I frequently take walks on my breaks as that helps clear my mind and restart my motivation per task.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an award-winning Pro Audio mix engineer, I’ve worked on both indie and major label albums for the past 35 years now. As an acoustic studio designer, I’ve spent all my professional years honing my kraft and the results have paid off. I utilized all my knowledge as a mix engineer to help me become a better studio designer. The better the designed rooms, the better the mixes. I’m proud of the latest studio acoustic design based in NYC. The new Republic Records (Universal Music) studios. (see Pics) The studio has moved forward in mixing 1000s of new Dolby Atmos music Projects. Currently Designing studios in NY, LA, and Atlanta. In my career, the road taken was certainly adventurous as adapting to many changes in both technology and workflow has changed tremendously throughout the years. Taking a step back every once in a while is key to being able to see where you have come from and where you are heading. When speaking to young aspiring Music engineers and producers, I always mention that the key to success is to balance your own life so that productivity and motivation stay strong.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
