We had the good fortune of connecting with CITYBOI BBQ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi CITYBOI, how do you think about risk?
To us risks are the only avenue to success. Success to the CITYBOI team is only achieved through doing something uncomfortable. We took our first risk starting a business, and then doing our first event, then bottling our sauce during the uncertainty of the pandemic, etc. Every step was a risk and was something that came with a lot of doubt. Risks are a part of every facet of our journey onwards to the next forward step.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
All 3 of the CITYBOI team members work full time jobs. Daniel works in the finance industry and has been doing so for 10 years as well as David. Their focus has allowed them to practice patience and fortitude in trying businesses. Mike works at a Charter School an is fulfilled working with kids as they call him Mr. Mike.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beach is necessary, and we would also go to Hollywood and stop by the Classic Cat. We would do brunch in Hermosa Beach at the Rockefeller.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to shoutout Keokia and David from the Taste of Inglewood festival for giving us our first event. Also, Tuskegee University for the alumni that have always supported. KIPP Socal for always supporting. Also our family and friends that have helped put on events, let us use their space, and patronized our business.
