We had the good fortune of connecting with Claire Arceneaux and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Claire, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose the creative route because I fought it for so long, that eventually I thought it was time to give into my true self. I originally tried to fit into the culture of college and corporate job life and eventually I realized that I had something unique and needed to share my talents.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well I’m an artist of all sorts.
This interview focuses on my closet organizing business, Kept by Claire. I’ve always had the organizing bug in me and after working for a large company I decided that it was time to go out on my own and work on a more intimate scale and focus on closets. We do our occasional pantry here and there but there is something about making someone’s closet functional and aesthetically pleasing.
What I’ve learned along the way is that life isn’t always a straight path. I was at a high point before the pandemic and then my husiness slowed down a lot. I’m happy to be back in Los Angeles building my clientele.
I’d want the world to know that each customer experience in unique. Everyone tells me their closet is going to be the worst and 9/10 times, it isn’t. Ha ha.
I don’t organize each space the same way. I like to collaborate with the homeowner on what works for them and then find the best system according to their lifestyles and preferences.
This became a strong side hustle to my career in entertainment and I am thankful to have this as another creative outlet.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I live close to WeHo but I’m a true water baby so I would have to start on the Westside.
I love taking friends to grab a locals burger and draft beer at Hinano in Venice then ride bikes to Santa Monica. Watching the sunset at Hotel Erwin is always a great view and I love a nice dinner at Gjelina in Venice.
Friends love checking out Rodeo Drive so we would walk around there on day 2 and maybe grab lunch at Hideaway and a cupcake at Sweet Angeles. They’re my favorite in the city.
Day 3 would have to start at Great White on Melrose. Their lattes, breakfast burritos and hot cakes are delicious!
Possibly a hike at Runyon after our food has settled then lunch my favorite lobster rolls spot in the city, Royal Lobster. If you’re not a seafood person, For the Win Burger joint is my favorite smash burger spot too.
A glass of wine, shopping and people watching at The Grove is always a relaxing experience.
Closing the day at one of my favorite staple dinner restaurants, Craig’s.
Drinks in the evening at SoHo House or Birdstreets. The cornbread at Birds is incredible.
It’s not an LA trip if you don’t hit up Malibu. A day on the sand, lunch at Moonshadows and dinner at Nobu Malibu. The wagyu tacos are unreal.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have the most solid group of friends and I am so grateful for them. We encourage each other and inspire one another with ideas and love. It is so important to surround yourself with others that want to see you succeed. I also have to shoutout my mom. She has always been my biggest fan and number one supporter.
