We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Ella Destiny and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Coach Ella, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by people who have stories. People that have gone through some real stuff in life and are still here to talk about it, share it and help others through what they’ve experienced. I’m also inspired by people who purpose in their pain.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m not trying to do what everybody else does. I don’t look on social media or to other people to determine my next moves. My instruction comes from God and so until it’s blessed, anointed and appointed by Him, I can’t accept it or take part in it. A lot of people like to ride the wave or what’s trending even if it goes against their God given purpose. That’s what makes me different. The thing that I’m most proud of is making my dad proud. He used to always say, “only the things we do for God will last” and I’m proud that I’ve been sticking to those words and living my life in that way, knowing he would’ve been happy to see it. Also becoming an author. That’s another milestone I’m excited about. I got to where I am today with a whole lot of prayer and patience. It wasn’t easy and I’m still not exactly where I want to be, but having the right team and people around you to support and encourage you is a big deal. Lots of prayer, meditation and giving yourself permission to walk away, take a break and start over if you have to, that’s how I’ve overcome a lot of challenges.
The lessons that I’ve learned along the way are first, everyone won’t celebrate with or be happy for you and you have to be ok with that. Second, the covenant is between me and God and unless he says others can come with me or are apart of my assignment, I have to not be afraid to let them go so that I can complete the assignment and calling that’s been placed on my life, and lastly, celebrate yourself and the small wins. It took a lot of hard work, dedication and maybe even setbacks to get to where you are so the littlest of things should be celebrated!

I want the world to know what my book says and that it, “There Is Nothing Wrong With Saying So What”. So what you’ve been through hard times and obstacles and trials and tribulations. There is nothing new under the sun and if God can deliver Daniel or Job, or even ME, he can deliver YOU. There is a plan and a purpose for everyone that’s placed here and it’s up to us to own it, accept it and operate fully in it.

My mission and commission is to help and encourage everyone to operate fully IN their purpose ON PURPOSE with my coaching classes and courses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First I’d take them to the African American museum! The culture is amazing, and the history behind it all is out if this world. Next, we’d visit the monuments and capture lots of great photos and memories.
We’d do lunch at Old Ebbit Grill and then hangout at the National Harbor.

Throughout the week we’d visit different parts of the city across the DMV like Annapolis, MGM, Old Town Alexandria and we’d end it with a nice show or concert at the Lincoln Theater.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, shout-out go God for creating and making me. Without Him I’d be nothing. Also my dad. Although he’s no longer with us, I have to acknowledge him for my upbringing and the way I was raised. He taught me humility, how to be thankful for the littlest of things because they mean so much, and how to serve…that it’s not about me, but all about serving others as God has called us to do.
